Foster Family Farm in South Windsor, CT might be the best place in Connecticut to take your toddlers this fall.

We went to their opening weekend and were immediately impressed with all the little details. Excellent parking, well-organized, compact without feeling crowded, abundant friendly staff and SO MUCH TO DO!

Our two-year-olds could do pretty much every single activity (other than the human hamster wheels and the pedal carts that were still be bit too large for legs).

We visited the animals, jumped on the bounce pad, had a GORGEOUS hay ride (and it was long…at least 15 minutes). Then we spent a good amount of time in the corn pit (be prepared to a little dusty) before tackling the mini corn maze.

We ended our day trying out some of the super cool themed play structures and picking out some pumpkins. We passed up in the crafts but they looked SO cool.

I can’t stress enough how friendly and organized this farm felt. It was also super manageable to push our strolled wagon through, and we only left it behind on the hay ride and while in the corn maze.

Check the end of the video for specific hours, but they open on the weekdays starting 9/28 and will close for the season 11/1. Admission is 16$ for adults (13+), $11 for children (3-12) and kids 2 and under are free!

If you’re wondering if 2-years-old is too young for a history museum….it’s not.

The Peabody Museum in New Haven, CT is the perfect place for a budding dinosaur lover, animal enthusiast, rock collector and more. Recently re-opened in 2024 after a FOUR YEAR RENOVATION it now feels like a smaller, more attainable version of the Museum of Natural History in NYC.

Because guess what? IT IS FREE TO ENTER.

No cost, no needing to reserve a time slot for tickets. Just show up and get handed and map and be ready to chase your toddler around and hear them go “WOW!” at the top of their lungs for the duration of the visit.

Pro Tips: get there for opening at 10 AM and you can likely park in Yale Lot 22V which is free with validation. Otherwise you will need to seek out a paid lot and shuttle or find street parking. In the museum, there is no eating except in designated areas (no walking snacks, toddlers!) After there is no shortage of cafe options; try Poppy’s, G Cafe (next to Pebbles Toy Store), Atticus, or East Rock Market for lunch, and end the day playing at East Rock Playground!

It’s been either too hot, too stormy, or too bad of air to be outdoors at a playground much recently. As bona fide winter girlies, we are dying for a break in the heat. These are the playgrounds we long to get back to if the weather would just cooperate and cut us some slack. (Not to mention our massive list we still need to get to!)

What playgrounds are in your rotation? What ones do you want to check out? Drop us suggestions in the comments!
