Map flatlay! 🗺

I love when a book (especially a fantasy book) has a map at the front.

Do I always read it? No. Do I like to know it's there? Yes. 😂

I'd love to write a high fantasy book someday with my own map, so I can really feel like my story has it's own world!

I've tagged a few people to give this a go, but no pressure.

Beach flatlay! 🏖

Happy #flatlayfriday!

Ideally I'd have had more yellow books for this, but we'll just have to accept it's not a very sandy beach! 😂

I hope you're all doing okay in the hot weather. I've tagged a few people to give this a go, but no pressure.

Seven deadly sins stack! 😇

I saw @catscoffeesandchronicles give this a go and I couldn't not join in!

📖 Wrath - a book I didn't like
The Castle of Otranto by Horace Walpole. I always find when I'm reading original Gothic literature, that I probably would have had to be there to really appreciate it!)

📖 Pride - a book I'm proud I finished
The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. I was nervous about reading this, because it's such a difficult and painful book, but at the same time, I wanted to read it for myself.

📖 Greed - a book I have multiple copies of
Dracula by Bram Stoker. In my defence, one was a gift! 😂

📖 Gluttony - a book I've read more than once
Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree. Every year I go back to it, and every year I crave one of those cinnamon rolls!

📖 Sloth - a book that's been on my tbr for too long.
Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. I got a copy earlier this year, but between arcs and beta reads and library loans, I haven't got around to it yet.

📖 Lust - a book I bought for the cover
Sycorax by Nydia Hetherington. I found this in a book shop in York, signed, for £7, so how could I not?

📖 Envy - a book I could live in
The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern. This and Legends and Lattes were interchangeable for me - I could imagine living in both worlds, but for very different reasons!

I've tagged a few people to give this a go but no pressure.

Warm to cool flatlay!

Sorry if I've been a little bit absent on here this past week. Like many in the UK right now, I have been struggling with the heat - both in terms of how hot it actually is, and with the anxiety of what it means for us and our environment.

But as when my anxiety stops being helpful, and becomes unproductive, I find the best thing to do is distract myself with a book (or two). So I thought I'd share this challenge for anyone else who might benefit from some bookish inspiration.

I definitely have more cooler-toned books than warm ones, but I am enjoying seeing so many more vibrant fantasy covers popping up on the shelves! So perhaps there's an excuse for me to grow my collection?

I've tagged a few people to give this a go, but as always, no pressure.

Stay safe, and stay cool! 💛

Night themed two for tuesday 🌙

I definitely need to put The Night Circus on my list of books to reread this year - it's been so long since I first read it, and while I love and regularly reread The Starless Sea, I think I've only read Erin Morgenstern's first book once.

It seems like a lot of speculative fiction and fantasy books have the word "night" in the title. I had plenty of them to choose from for this post.

I've tagged a few people to give this a try, but no pressure!

Spring greens flatlay Friday! 💚

Happy Friday! We've made it to the weekend! feels like a very short week this week, since I was off work Monday and Tuesday to catch up with family, but I'm still looking forward to a nice break this weekend. I was at an author talk last night, and it's really inspired me to get back into writing my new work in progress, so hopefully I can make some time for that on Sunday.

The spring weather has finally made its way to us, so I thought I'd enjoy it with this spring flatlay.

I've tagged a few people to give this a try!

Have you read any of these?

Heroines-in-training outing with @bristolwomenfantasywriters 😆 This time we tackled falconry (followed by dyeing eggs for Ostara!)

We met a Harris Hawk, Barn Owl, and baby Northern White Face at @northsomersetbirdofpreycentre

What a perfect spring day with the best people (and birbs!) 😌🌸

A huge congratulations to @junithevixen and @ctlavecchia for their incredible achievement of making the longlist for @ascent_novel_prize 🥳

Both Chelsea and Juni first made it to the top 100 and have now been selected among the top 24 applicants! I cannot believe such talented women are a part of this little group. You're both superstars ⭐⭐⭐
