Still pinching myself. 🥲
Just got back from Colorado and some of the most amazing weeks of my life at the Sundance Directors Lab. Gonna miss waking up at 6AM, buffet potatoes, shot listing, shooting, laughing, editing, screenings, late night chats…

I’ve spent the past three years working toward filmmaking, and there were stretches when I wasn’t sure it would come together. And while I’m sad summer camp is over, I’m so excited to bring this movie to life.

Endless thanks to @sundanceorg for believing in this project and giving us the chance to learn from so many inspiring artists. Thanks to my amazing cohort — new lifelong friends — the badass staff, crew and advisors, and the brilliant actors who brought our scenes to life: @standup4justice, @hannahpilkes and @caleb_malis. And thank you to @antigravityacademy for opening this door. ❤️

Before the film exists. Before anyone knows if a scene works, before any color correction or sound mixing, there is truth to be found. This is what we all tried to do this past week at the Sundance Lab.

It was a privilege to be invited, to share this experience with the incredibly talented Said Zagha, to reunite and learn from Ali Suliman and Clara Khoury, and to learn from Ed Harris and Christopher McQuarrie for the first time , whose generosity toward emerging filmmakers was as inspiring as their work.

What stays with me most, though, is the feeling of being there with a Palestinian story. To bring our voices, our humor, our contradictions, our imagination, and our humanity into that space felt meaningful.

For a few days, a Palestinian film wasn’t being debated, explained, or defended. It was simply being made.

And that felt like a gift.

Thank you @sundanceorg from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you, Robert Redford. What you created is an absolutely golden experience for every artist. May your soul rest in peace🤍

Honored and pleased to have been an advisor at the January Sundance Screenwriters Lab, in the company of dear fellow advisors, inspiring Fellows, extraordinary staff. This year's Lab — the first since the passing of Bob Redford — was particularly moving. The work of Sundance is at the very heart of American and international independent cinema, and has been at the very heart of my own life for the past 25 years. I could not be more grateful.

This is 30 🥳 It’s a privilege to grow one year older, and I feel blessed to be here. My 20s were beautiful, at times tragic, terrifying, debilitating, extraordinary, messy, tender, erratic, funny. I would do all the bare knuckle survival moments over and over again if it led me here every time. I’m grateful every day to see another morning, to reach out into this body and feel the sun on my face. I’m teary and breathless when I think about the beauty of the hearts that surround me, that for some reason have adopted me into their worlds and grace me with their love as friends, as family. I’m grateful for these spirits, in this life and those who have passed to the next, that help me remember to go slow, let it all wash over you 🩷 2026 I love you already. I can’t wait to marry my favorite person, @stattyzaddy I can’t wait to DANCE, to make music, and hold on tight to my angels - who together I couldn’t possibly all fit into one Instagram post. Full of life, full of love, wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year 🩷💋 xo
