At what point do we stop accepting legal justifications as actual justice? A child is dead. ONE YEAR OLD.

For some reason this 9/11 hits the hardest. A grief far bigger than the original. 25 years and we didn’t learn a damn thing.

I wrote a thing in WELLREAD about where we are and how we got here. No answers. Just the grief of everything.

🌀 a collection of art, mutual aid requests, and volunteer opportunities - give, get involved, take action, defend, make art - it’s the only way. #linksinbio

WE NEED COMMUNITY TO SURVIVE THIS UNFORGIVING WORLD. ❤️‍🔥 And y’all have shown exactly what that can look like.
•
I seriously cannot thank everyone enough. Every donation, share, comment & boost has brought my best friend’s disabled mom closer to safety – & bc people keep showing up, WE ARE ALMOST 2/3 OF THE WAY THERE. 🥹
•
After her landlord refused to address toxic mold in her home & displaced her, getting her somewhere safe felt overwhelming. But with every donation that comes in, there is more & more hope that we can actually get her safely housed.
•
THIS is mutual aid. THIS is solidarity. We take care of each other. Fu*k landlords.
•
We still have 1/3 to go! I know it feels like one crisis after another right now, but if you can spare even a few dollars or keep sharing, it genuinely moves her closer to safety. 🙏🏽
•
From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for showing up. Let’s get her the rest of the way home. ❤️‍🔥 LINK IN BIO TO DONATE. #SolidarityNotCharity ✊🏽

🚨 URGENT MUTUAL AID REQUEST: HELP KEEP A DISABLED ELDER HOUSED 🚨
ALL LANDLORDS ARE BAST@RDS 🏚️🪳
•
My best friend’s 70-year-old disabled mom is facing HOMELESSNESS after toxic black mold made her apartment unsafe. Instead of protecting her, her landlord dismissed & gaslit her about it, & now SHE is the one being displaced.
•
I’m briefly breaking my social media break while grieving two deaths in my family bc THIS IS URGENT & I really want to help get her somewhere safe. She deserves SAFE, STABLE HOUSING – not displacement bc her landlord failed her.
•
They’re trying to raise $3,000 to help her secure another apartment. More details about what happened & everything she has been put through are at the GoFundMe linked in my bio.
•
EVEN A FEW DOLLARS CAN MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE. If you have $5, $3, OR EVEN $1 to spare, please consider donating. Small donations from a lot of people are how mutual aid works. And if donating truly isn’t possible right now, PLEASE SHARE THIS so it can reach someone who can give.
•
It would mean the entire world to me if we could SHOW UP FOR MY BEST FRIEND & HER MOM right now.
•
HOUSING IS A HUMAN RIGHT. Disabled elders should not face homelessness bc landlords refuse to provide safe housing. Landlords are fu*king parasites, & a legal system that protects property owners over tenants enables this vi0lence. Fu*k landlords. ACAB includes landlords. Justice for tenants, always. ✊🏽
•
If we believe in mutual aid, collective care, disability justice & solidarity over charity, this is one of those moments to practice it.
•
Nobody is coming to save us. WE KEEP US SAFE. We take care of each other.
•
❤️‍🔥 GoFundMe in the LINK IN BIO. Anything helps. Truly. I will be forever grateful. #SolidarityNotCharity

Can’t stop thinking about Jason Arday and how unwelcoming/toxic academia can be for us, brown and black bodies.

May his memory and scholarship be a guiding light as we strive to rebuild academia and society with an ethic of love and care.

Justice means confronting the systems that dispossess, displace, detain, and dehumanize people.

“If they cannot love and resist at the same time, they probably will not survive.” - Audre Lorde

Been thinking about my illustration style recently. Since an introductory lithograph workshop, I’ve been illustrating primarily in black and white with a little pop of colour. I’ve also gone back to a recurring theme of illustrating flowers in uncommon containers. What is always constant though is my love for Audre Lorde and a feminist ethic of care.
