They say it takes a village, the village pulled up for the solo show called Stamp of Courage!

Appreciate each and every one of you that came to see the show, sent me texts, reached out in different forms, all the hugs. Still can’t get over the love I’ve been receiving throughout this journey.

Appreciate you Pilar @pcas8 , Marlon @cafe.sonico , Osmar @elmarchante Juan @elcreativo.la for giving me the opportunity to showcase at @cuarto.central . Thank you @v.e_x0 for taking care of all of us with whatever we needed during the opening. Jo @damnnjoanne and Kat @katthegrooves for helping with the install.

Stamp of Courage: A Journey of Sacrifices and Dreams

Assimilation, the struggle of trying to fit in, or washing away the culture of our ancestors have always been a struggle from the beginning of our journey here in the United States. “Stamp of Courage” is a beautiful mark, a unique scar, a unique story that all of us carry with us. From the child who came barely at the age of 5 years old to the mother who crossed all the borders of hurdles to come into this unknown land to create an opportunity for her child.

We all are from different backgrounds but we carry the same scar. Scars are usually looked at as a very negative thing that we all hide from the world. Some big, many small, some round, some not, every scar is different like everyone in this world.

This exhibit talks to those first and second generations who have these same scars in the same location. Though the scars look very different, they experience the same push back and the struggles to fit in, and most of all the courage to still keep going to reach for their dreams brings these individuals together.

This is the first series of this exhibition. Our journey through life will ask us for some sacrifices to one day fulfill our dreams. But there are many people out there from different parts of the world with these scars, some old, some young, some tall, some short, through this scar, we now name it as “Stamp of Courage” will bring us closer together.

First off, thank you to the most high! Can’t measure my the amount of love and gratitude I have for everyone that wished me well, through phone, in person and in energy. Love you and will appreciate everything you do to support this beautiful journey!

Estoy muy emocionado de llegar con mis camaradas de Cuarto Central en Los Ángeles, California. Con la exposición; “Mi acordeón y yo, la vida como proyecto creativo”
En esta propuesta abro mi universo íntimo; mis influencias como la música norteña, acordeonistas y acordeón que me acompañan desde niño. A través de técnicas mixtas en un conjunto de Imágenes arcaicas, primigenias, comunes a pueblos y épocas enteras; resaltando una autoexploración de identidad como discurso primario.

Están invitados a acompañarme el día 2 de Octubre a las 7:00 pm, donde además tendré el honor de aventarme un “Palomazo” con @nivel_de_reyes_ conjunto norteño con orígenes también Oaxaqueños radicados en Califonia.

¡Allá nos vemos raza!

This Saturday, for one night only, Noche Sonora comes to Montebello 🌙 In collaboration with @montebellolive and our neighbors on Whittier blvd, a FREE outdoor concert and the block activation with art, music and food.

@themccharmlys__ and @loschicosdelmambo will play live on 6th Street, with DJ sets by @heartsinhereyes and @rincontropicalny throughout the night.

✨Enjoy an outdoor beer garden @alchemycraft and special cultural activations at @cuarto.central, @cafe.santo, and @blvdmrkt, including food pop-ups, vinyl, retail, and art exhibits.

Bring your family, come hungry, and get ready to walk, explore, or dance your way around our beautiful Downtown Montebello.
💃🏽This event is all ages, pet-friendly, FREE, and open to everyone.
