“Pivots are just puzzle pieces that eventually will lead to a bigger picture.” -@iamdecora Sometimes we can’t see how the pieces fit together until we look back and realize they were shaping the picture all along. That was one of the many gifts that @iamdecora gave us at our recent #CreativeMorningsHV gathering. A reminder that we don’t have to know exactly where our creative paths are taking us to trust that each experience, each experiment, and each new direction can become part of something bigger. If you missed the gathering, you can watch Decora’s full talk and read the recap at creativemornings.com/hv (link in profile). A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped bring this morning together. To @barnfoxclub for welcoming us so generously, @fantzyebagels for all the deliciousness, and @ranafaurefiberfoto and @jayb.us for capturing so many beautiful moments. To the @hudsytv team (@abby.annakay, @jesscostacreates, @nscully27, @mr_damnangel, @secreth0ur), thank you for helping tell the story beyond the room and documenting all the magic from the morning! And to our incredible volunteers (@7of7cs, @cubbygraham, @curtisverderosa, @jonathanmckinna, @mo, Samantha Slarskey, and @summer.wick), thank you for all the pieces you bring together behind the scenes. These mornings simply wouldn’t happen without you! Looking forward to our next gathering (whispers: October 23rd)! “The pivot, like the pendulum, has to have a center,” Decora shared. “That center is so important to keep no matter where you pivot, where you go, how far left you go, how far right you go.” Our creative lives can take us in directions we never expected. For Decora (@iamdecora), his center has always been poetry. It’s the thread that runs through music, performance, art, design, technology, and entrepreneurship. At our recent #CreativeMorningsHV gathering, Decora invited us to consider what our own center might be. The thing we return to. The thread that keeps us connected to who we are, even as life, creativity, and everything around us continues to shift. If you missed this special morning with Decora, you can watch the full talk and read the recap at creativemornings.com/hv (link in profile). As always, these mornings are made possible by so many generous people. A huge thank you to @barnfoxclub for giving us such a beautiful place to gather, and to @fantzyebagels for filling the morning with delicious sourdough bagels and house-made schmears. To our incredible volunteers (@7of7cs, @cubbygraham, @curtisverderosa, @jonathanmckinna, @mo, Samantha Slarskey, and @summer.wick), thank you for all the unseen work, care, and heart you pour into making these mornings happen. And thank you to @ranafaurefiberfoto, @jayb.us and the wonderful @hudsytv team (@abby.annakay, @jesscostacreates, @nscully27, @mr_damnangel, @secreth0ur) for capturing the morning so beautifully! #CreativeMornings #CMCurrent #HudsonValley

At our recent CreativeMornings, Decora (@iamdecora) took us through a deeply personal journey of music, poetry, art, education, entrepreneurship, and all the unexpected turns in between. Decora weaved together stories, poetry, music, and performance alongside his longtime collaborator @djh2o_fresh! It was a beautiful reminder of what can happen when we give ourselves permission to create in more than one way, and when we share that creativity with one another. Decora, thank you for sharing so generously with us. You and DJ H2O made the experience unforgettable! If you weren’t able to join us, the full recap and Decora’s talk are now available at creativemornings.com/hv (link in profile). Special thanks to @barnfoxclub for opening your gorgeous space to us and to our friends at @fantzyebagels for generously providing all the delicious sourdough bagels and house-made schmears! We could taste the love and care in every bite! And a heartfelt thank you to our incredible volunteers (@7of7cs, @cubbygraham, @curtisverderosa, @jonathanmckinna, @mo, Samantha Slarskey, and @summer.wick), to @ranafaurefiberfoto and @jayb.us for capturing all the beautiful photos, and to the incredible @hudsytv team (@abby.annakay, @jesscostacreates, @nscully27, @mr_damnangel, @secreth0ur) for documenting the morning so that people can experience it beyond the room! Thanks for making every #CreativeMorningsHV gathering so memorable! #CreativeMornings #CMCurrent #HudsonValley

“Getting lost is not a derailment; it’s an essential and sacred interlude in life, and you shouldn’t rush your way to getting found. Sometimes being lost is the only way to find the path that only you can walk.” — @gretamorgan In her CreativeMornings talk, Greta invited us to slow down, trust our curiosity, and make room for the unexpected. To follow the path that only we can walk. If you missed our morning with Greta, you can watch the full talk and read the recap at creativemornings.com/hv (link in profile). Greta, thank you for sharing your journey and reminding us to trust our intuition, stay curious, and give ourselves permission to not have it all figured out. And a huge thank you to everyone who helped make this morning possible, especially our incredible volunteers (@7of7cs, @cleooo0__, @cubbygraham, @curtisverderosa, @ellaajoyy, @jonathanmckinna, @mo, @noel_mcgrath, @summer.wick, and @upstatehomesrealty), and to @ranafaurefiberfoto, @upstatecurrent, and @abby.annakay + @mr_damnangel from @hudsytv for documenting the morning! And again a special thanks to @ravenwoodny for generously providing the coffee and treats and welcoming us so warmly! Looking forward to seeing everyone at our next gathering on September 18. “By the fourth day I was there, asking questions about what is happening to my voice and what am I meant to do next and how can I heal, I got this message that said 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙡𝙡 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙫𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙛𝙞𝙜𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙖𝙮. And it was so confusing because at that time I was trying to make the biggest solo record of my life. I was like, ‘How am I going to figure out what to say if I don’t have my voice?’ It felt like a riddle.” — @gretamorgan In a deeply personal CreativeMornings talk, Greta shared what happened when the life she had built around music suddenly changed, and how a period of uncertainty ultimately opened the door to a creative life she never could have imagined. There’s so much wisdom in her story, and we’re excited to let you experience more of it. Watch the full talk and check out the recap including a complete photo gallery at creativemornings.com/hv (link in profile). Greta, thank you for sharing your story so openly and reminding us that the unexpected life can sometimes be the most beautiful one. And a heartfelt thank you to our incredible volunteers (@7of7cs, @cleooo0__, @cubbygraham, @curtisverderosa, @ellaajoyy, @jonathanmckinna, @mo, @noel_mcgrath, @summer.wick, and @upstatehomesrealty), and to @ranafaurefiberfoto, @upstatecurrent, and @abby.annakay + @mr_damnangel from @hudsytv for documenting the morning! “Sometimes being lost is the only way to find the path that only you can walk.” That was one of the many gifts @gretamorgan left us with last Friday. Her story reminded us that the unexpected turns in our lives aren’t necessarily something to overcome. Sometimes they’re an invitation to slow down, follow our curiosity, trust our intuition, and discover a path we never could have imagined. Greta, thank you for sharing your story and inspiring us to get a little more comfortable with the unknown. Thank you to our wonderful volunteers (@7of7cs, @cleooo0__, @cubbygraham, @curtisverderosa, @ellaajoyy, @jonathanmckinna, @mo, @noel_mcgrath, @summer.wick, and @upstatehomesrealty) and to @ranafaurefiberfoto, @upstatecurrent, and @abby.annakay from @hudsytv for documenting the morning with so much love and care. None of this happens without you! Special thanks to our friends at @ravenwoodny for opening your beautiful space and generously providing all the yummy coffee and treats. “How do I look at collaborators instead of competitors?” That question became a turning point for filmmaker and @hudsytv co-founder Angel Fonseca (@mr_damnangel). Angel shared how his understanding of competition evolved from something rooted in survival and self-preservation into something much more expansive: a belief that there is room for all of us to grow, create, and succeed together. “For the first time in my life, it’s about everybody.” A powerful reminder that success doesn’t have to be a solo pursuit. That our ambition can make room for generosity. That the door we walk through can become the door we hold open for someone else. If you missed our morning with Angel, you can watch the full talk and read the recap at creativemornings.com/hv (link in profile). This morning was a beautiful example of what happens when people choose to show up for one another. Thank you to @thesunfair for generously welcoming us into your beautiful space, and to @breadalonebakery for keeping us well fed with an incredible spread of bagels. We’re endlessly grateful for our volunteer team (@7of7cs, @suelue82, @summer.wick, @curtisverderosa, @ranafaurefiberfoto, @jonathanmckinna, @mo, and @cubbygraham), whose time and care make these gatherings possible. And to @ranafaurefiberfoto, @noel_mcgrath, and the @hudsytv team (@Nscully27, @secreth0ur, @calebb.sees, @Oliviakgrant, @Krys_colon89, @jesscostacreates, @gem.docs, @sebastainfilms, @abby.annakay), thank you for generously documenting the morning and helping the story live beyond the room. Sometimes the stories that shape us become the bridges we build for others. Last month, filmmaker and creative director Angel Fonseca (@mr_damnangel) shared the deeply personal journey that reshaped his understanding of competition. From believing he had to do everything on his own, to discovering that the most meaningful work is built alongside others. Through @hudsytv, Angel is creating the kind of opportunities he once wished existed. Mentoring emerging filmmakers. Opening doors. Making space for more voices to be heard. A beautiful reminder that our greatest legacy isn’t what we accomplish alone. It’s what we make possible for others. Thank you, Angel, for reminding us that generosity has the power to transform not only our work, but the people around us. Watch the full talk and check out the recap and photo gallery at creativemornings.com/hv (link in profile). Special thanks to @thesunfair for generously hosting us in your gorgeous space and @breadalonebakery for the delicious spread of bagels! In my ideal world, this would be a longer reel because it would include (1) clips of the wonderful @tonymovie we got to see in pre-release, and (2) way more b-roll of the whole event and drone footage of the @theculinaryinstituteofamerica. But that didn’t happen because… well, you can’t record a film screening, and we were having too much fun and I forgot to get more footage! The movie was really wonderful. It was about Anthony Bourdain’s time as a young cook in Provincetown, but some pivotal scenes involved the Culinary or Vassar, and it was thrilling to see it with an audience of mostly CIA students and locals. @dominic.sessa had a tough job, embodying someone so well-known without being a caricature, and he totally nailed it. @emiliajonesy was luminous. @antoniobanderas was brilliant. I won’t tell you more, but go see that movie when it hits theaters in a few weeks. And it was fun to run into so many old friends and familiar faces — I saw @cubbygraham, @mo, @craig_inthe_catskills, @noel_mcgrath, @ameliacwilliams_, @johnmorzen, @focacciaflourist, and a bunch more. Big thanks to @theculinaryinstituteofamerica and @a24 for the invitation! . . . . . #hudsonvalley #dutchesscounty #poughkeepsie #culinaryinstituteofamerica #anthonybourdain

One of the most generous things you can give yourself is permission to say no. At our recent gathering, Andrew Arrick and Michael Hofemann of @finchhudson reminded us that curation isn’t about having more. It’s about having the courage to choose less. To trust your eye. To honor your experience. To leave room for what matters most. The story of FINCH itself began with making room. A finch built its nest above the front door during the renovation of their home, and rather than pushing to finish the project, they chose to work around it. “It sort of became that space you leave out,” Michael shared. A beautiful reminder that the empty spaces carry meaning, too. Thank you, Andrew and Michael, for sharing your story and a way of moving through the world with greater intention. And a heartfelt thank you to our incredible volunteer team for making mornings like this possible, and to @ranafaurefiberfoto for so generously documenting the gathering with your beautiful photos.
