We had the opportunity to check out the Cube Climbing Centre today, and we were stoked to see what they have to offer (and squeeze a little climbing into the workday)!

With bouldering and routes (lead, top-rope and auto-belays) downstairs and a training area including a campus board, a Tension board and hangboards upstairs, the Cube packs a lot into the space. If you are new to climbing or just looking for a refresher, lessons, rentals and youth programs are available.

If you are looking for a fun way to escape the rain or add movement into your routine, you can find the Cube in the Mary Hall gymnasium at 820 Tenth Street, and they are open from 12-9 on weekdays and 12-5 on weekends.

Thank you so much to @cubeclimbing for having us! We had a blast!

The West Kootenay climbing scene is booming. From gym walls to alpine cliffs, our community’s love for climbing runs deep. But The Cube (@cubeclimbing), our beloved local gym in Nelson, BC, is bursting at the seams.

That’s why the Kootenay Climbing Association (KCA) is dreaming big with Cube 2.0. It would be a much larger, world-class facility where beginners can start their journey and seasoned climbers could even train for the Olympics.

“We have about $11 million to raise. To date, with grants and in-kind support from industry, we’re at about $1.7 million raised so far,” says KCA board member Cam Shute. “So it’s quite exciting. We have a long way to go, but I truly believe it’s possible.”

At Greater Nelson Economic Development, we’re proud to support the sport and recreation sector that makes the Nelson area so vibrant, which is why we wrote a letter of support for Cube 2.0 to help make this vision a reality.

3,500 km, 8 gyms, 8 crags, 1 broken sway bar link, and 3 seasons—what a tour.
We just wrapped an incredible run through BC and Alberta, connecting with climbers, shops, and local communities along the way. Huge thanks to everyone who showed up, talked shop, and trusted us with their shoes. Big love to the gyms and local hosts for the warm welcomes and support.
