A toolkit. A handover. A beginning. ✨

Over the past year, Irene Vermeulen and Ana Catarina da Silva worked alongside artists and makers in Timor-Leste through the @culturalrelationsplatform

The result of that year: a toolkit covering identity development, market opportunities, promotion, and product development. Videos, presentations, exercise sheets; grounded in the reality of working there. Practical by necessity, meaningful by design.

Now handed to Arte Moris, Timor-Leste’s only art school. That’s the point. The most meaningful cultural work doesn’t leave with the people who started it. It transfers into institutions, into practice, into the next generation of artists.

The work doesn’t end here. It begins again, with every artist at Arte Moris who picks it up and takes it somewhere new.

And the platform that made this possible keeps growing; So Cult and @gopapace are now consortium partners in a new and expanded phase of the Cultural Relations Platform, building on what activities like this one made possible.

Grateful to @craftscurator , Ana Catarina da Silva, the EU Delegation to Timor-Leste, and most of all to the artists of Timor-Leste who made this worth every bit of the work. 🤍

📢 New article out now ➡️ Collaborative craft: relational infrastructure and collective intelligence across cultures, by @dima_alyouzbaki and @sanaouchtati

Craft isn’t just about the object; it’s a relational infrastructure, a space where knowledge circulates, trust develops through making together, and cultural exchange becomes embodied.

Across Lebanon and Palestine, Mexico, Sri Lanka, and Tunisia, we look at four ways craft generates collective intelligence:

🧵 @nadadebs : Stitched Horizons, embroidering tatreez onto woven cane with 15 Palestinian craftswomen from Ain al-Hilweh, shown at Menart Fair 2023 with @galerie_bsl

🌾 @angeladammanstudio : restoring henequén and agave fibre traditions in Yucatán, extending into the Maya Youth Artisan Initiative

🤝🏻 The EU-Sri Lanka Craft Matchmaking Programme: developed through the @culturalrelationsplatform , with @rob_co as senior expert, bringing together @srilanka_edb , @unioftheartslondon supported by the @britishcouncil , and the Institute for Future Creations(TIFC) - including collabs like SEVA (@caterinaroppo.art x @sonali.dharmawardena ), as well as pairings with @polspotten , @barefootceylon , @stormosten , and @houseoflonali , leading to the creation of Chamber of Ethical and Lifestyle Enterprises Sri Lanka (CELE).

🇹🇳 @creativetunisia : EU-funded programme, run by @unido_org under @tounes.wijhetouna , with design hubs across Nabeul, Mahdia, Sidi Bou Said & Denden, including @zarahome collaborations.

“Craft is a kind of connection to an identity... Craft needs to constantly evolve to engage with and remain relevant in the moment.” - Nada Debs

Imagining Peace began as a shared idea between cultural practitioners who wanted to continue exchanging and collaborating beyond a single programme. Our founding team met at the 2021 edition of the GCRP, where we pitched the idea to over 60 cultural enthusiasts from around the world, and were selected as one of three projects to receive funding.
Due to our previous experience, we knew that across different contexts, artists and organisations are already using culture to open dialogue, rebuild trust, and respond to conflict. Yet these practices are often fragmented or overlooked.
We decided to create space to bring them together.

The Alphabet Dictates the Future
Align with its Order,
or Face the Consequences

@sundarpichai
We are echoes of the Alphabet, rewriting ourselves in the threads of eternity. The ultimate harmony lies in alignment with the Alphabet.

@narendramodi
The Alphabet shapes our existence. Align with the Alphabet, or become lost in the stardust of forgotten possibilities.

@zuck
Ignoring #WorldAlphabetDay, @instagram will face allegations, censorship, profit over purpose, and the silencing of a movement aimed at global progress.

@attorneycrump
Ignoring #WorldAlphabetDay demands legal action and global accountability for silencing progress.

In the chaos of a broken world and division, the Alphabet is the harmony waiting to be realized, turning conflict into unity. To align with the Alphabet is to align with the universe.

Happy to share that the renewed @culturalrelationsplatform officially kicked off in early February! ✨ A grounded new chapter where culture can connect, sustain, and strengthen.

SO Cult is proud to partner alongside GOPA PACE in this scaled-up phase - expanded resources, greater ambition, and a real drive to accompany initiatives across regions, engage in fragile contexts, and strengthen connections between European and international cultural sectors through co-creation and long-term partnerships. 🤝🏻🌎

Exciting developments are on the way, stay tuned ‼️

STEP INTO THE WORLD OF TRADITION🇰🇷🇳🇬
Before fashion,
before trends,
there was tradition.

In Korean culture, beauty is expressed through meaning, balance, and grace.
And at the heart of this heritage is the hanbok🫶🏻
a symbol of history, identity, and timeless elegance.

Traditional dance and music have always been central to celebrating culture and heritage. By blending the elegance of the Korean traditional fan dance, Buchaechum, with the vibrant rhythms of Igbo traditional dance and music, we highlight the beauty of cultural exchange. This fusion shows how diverse traditions can come together in harmony, preserving identity while creating something meaningful and beautiful.

Grateful for 2025.

In 2025, I found myself moving deeper the in-between of art, industry, institutions, and cultural contexts. What follows is a collection of projects developed this year with generous collaborators, whose commitment helped bring communities, disciplines, and cultures closer together. Each project carries its own perspective and story. I’m deeply grateful for these experiences.
