Thank you @theblcksolstice, for having me and @maisonmarquisali. thank you to all the amazing models and the team that helped make this amazing night possible! I can’t help but feel like I was right where I was supposed to be. There are moments in this journey where I just KNOW I’m in the right place and that’s what this was. The energy, the crowd, the other designers, all of it was truly done to perfection! I pray that we continue to forge relationships that will lead to more times like this.

Chapter 28: —January embers, my hurt burns there too. 🕯️

Several tequila shots, birthday brunches, birthday dinners, one existential crisis, and a very necessary cathartic cry later… happy birthday to me.

I have spent the greater part of my life thinking (worrying even) about what makes me alike, this year I laser-focused on what sets me apart. Here’s what I’ve found:

I’m honest even when it offends. I say what people are afraid to say in a beautiful world of ugly truths.

I have a gift, understanding, and a kindness even of making people laugh while doing it. “If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they’ll kill you.” — Oscar Wilde

Truth—is the only sacred ground to stand upon. I have courage and a willingness to bleed and show my wounds —I am not afraid to be seen unpolished and imperfect. In all of my glory, messiness, and contradictions—I am not afraid to be witnessed.

Existential crisis aside, we are here simply to be witnessed. To be messy. To be unpolished. To fall apart and be picked up. To be loved when our own supply runs scarce. To witness others. To give them a lighter when they can’t spark their own. To spark it for them.

We are here to either be a hero or a cautionary tale for whoever comes next.

Only time will tell. Until then—

to thine own self be true.
