September 1st is my birthday, so this time of year always feels like a moment of reflection for me. 🎈✨

August was a BIG month. My book officially launched, which was something I had been working toward for over a year and a half. At the same time, I had a bit of a creative breakthrough that I’m still working through. It’s made me really question how I want to work moving forward. Honestly, I don’t have all the answers yet. 😂 But I sure seem to have the motivation right now!
But I do know one thing: I want to experiment.

My goal for this year is to make a body of work that feels almost unrecognizable from the work I’m making now. I want to push my experimentation to new heights, particularly with paper.

Lately, I’ve been really enjoying working larger. I’m becoming obsessed with the idea of collage papers becoming layers in a much bigger way, not just little pieces assembled together, but larger shapes, surfaces, and structures built from paper. I’m not entirely sure what that means yet… which is exactly why I’m interested in it.

I also bought myself a pack of 300 sheets of 5x7" cardstock with the intention of making lots of quick, small works this year. I want to give myself permission to make things that don’t need to become anything. Just experiments. Just play. Just seeing what happens. The key note is getting myself to be in a state of play, as I find it to be the best for breakthroughs.

The September prompt list is here! ✂️
Thank you so much to everyone who has been using the prompts, sharing what you make, and contributing to this little creative community. This past month had more contributors than any month before, which genuinely makes me so happy to see.

I’m going into this next year of my life with a lot of curiosity. I don’t know exactly where all this experimenting with paper is going to take me, but I think that’s the exciting part.

Here’s to making things we’ve never made before. 🤍

September prompts are officially LIVE.
