When we travel, we make a home for a moment. Upon arrival to a new place, our senses begin to sharpen. A song playing in the lobby of our hotel. The chatter of a language we don’t quite understand. The scent in the air. The texture of a chair. The taste of a drink. A piece of art on the wall. Through these small details, we begin to understand where we are. They give a place its feeling — and become part of how we remember it.

Traveling Chairs is an exhibition of @goodneighborshop founder Shawn Chopra’s favorite seating surfaces styled in the lobby of @goodneighborguesthouse and debuted during this year’s @goodneighbordesigncamp. Featuring the work of Melvin Thomas (@mel.tho), Surrounded by Color (@surroundedbycolor), and Currency Studio (@currencystudio) alongside pieces by Finn Juhl, and vintage chairs from India and Ethipoia. Featured art by Armina Mussa (@outofonesskin) also makes an appearance throughout the lobby.

You can experience it in person during your next stay at guesthouse by good neighbor.

PRINT & POUR: BALTIMORE — An afternoon of print, matcha, and meaningful exchange.

AoD Magazine is heading to Baltimore for a special edition of Print & Pour, our gathering series bringing together independent publishing, creative community, and cultural conversation.

In collaboration with @currencystudio, we’re creating an afternoon centered on design, storytelling, and the exchange of ideas, accompanied by Matchahand, Currency Studios’ signature matcha experience.

At the heart of the afternoon, @bobbytrendz, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of AoD Magazine, will sit down with Michael Haskins Jr., (@currencymichaels) Founder of Currency Studios, for an intimate conversation exploring creative entrepreneurship, the power of community, and what it means to build a lasting cultural legacy.

Michael and Currency Studio are among the creative voices featured in AoD Magazine Issue 004: REMAIN, our September 2026 edition examining endurance, relevance, and the art of staying. This gathering extends that editorial story beyond the printed page and into the community.

Copies of Issue 004 will be available for purchase, alongside an opportunity to connect, discover, and experience the world of AoD firsthand.

🚨Unsanctioned 2026 includes a photography pop-up show by A Tribe Called Run runners, hosted at @currencystudio by the Heather Grey Gallery.🚨

This isn't a show about running from the outside looking in. It's built entirely from inside the community: the early mornings, the mid-run joy, the moments that don't make it into official race photos. Curated from submissions by ATCR photographers and the wider community, the show captures what it actually looks like to run with this tribe.

OPENING NIGHT
Saturday, October 10, 5:00pm to 8:00pm
📍 Currency Studio, 18 W North Ave, Baltimore, MD 21218

Join us for the opening, featuring a panel discussion with the participating photographers @halfdanish , @mileage_junkie, and @waternoxygen moderated by @kiraface. You'll also be able to pick-up your pre-ordered 2026 BRF kit and purchase other ATCR gear.

Bonus Viewing

Monday, October 12, 5:30pm
📍 Currency Studio, 18 W North Ave, Baltimore, MD 21218

Catch the show again at a special edition Never Miss a Monday, ATCR's signature Monday night run. The run will be begin and end at Currency Studio with your second (and last!) chance to see the show. You'll also be able to pick-up your pre-ordered 2026 BRF kit and purchase other ATCR gear.

Known simply as “The Chairs,” (pictured) this creative collaboration between two design studios—Surrounded by Color and Currency Studio—is a nod to the iconic modern chair originally created in 1927 by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. The bold color choices, including turquoise, eggplant, and peach, are a Surrounded By Color signature, while each upholstered top and bottom is lined with Currency Studio’s trademark vintage bankers’ bags. And since the construction is reversible and designed to be interchangeable, that means there are four unique combinations for each chair. All together it feels like a true work of art.

More of this year's top local gems in the home and service space are at the link in our bio. 🏡💎
