Chattanooga was a special spot on our Great Loop. The Downtown area was amazing, the Chattanooga Aquarium was out of this world, and the light show at the Rock City Gardens was awesome, but really… it was the people that made our trip so memorable.

We extended our stay in Chattanooga and used our time to visit the AGLCA Harbor Hosts, Bruce and Maggie @currently_the_boat , visit with looper friends @theboomershines , meet new friends @chadandclaire , and spend time with family! We even got to meet two of our followers in person and learn about their interest in boating and dreams of the Great Loop. Enjoying drinks with friends, having meaningful conversations with loopers, and enjoying new experiences together with our family was the best part of Chattanooga.

November 12 - 21/Chattanooga, TN — For the first time in a long time, we sat still and boy did it feel good (until we didn’t feel good but that is another story). I’ve driven through Chattanooga umpteen times but never really stopped to enjoy this surprisingly interesting and arty town. We especially enjoyed the Tennessee Aquarium and the Creative Discovery Museum. But the main goal of coming to Chattanooga was to see friends and family — and see family and friends we did! The most special of all was Mark’s 93 year old Dad who made it over to Chattanooga to see SeaSHINE. We also had great times with several of our favorite looper friends — Sojourn, Nice Aft and Pivot. And some gold loopers (that is what we call people who have completed the loop) had us to their home for dinner which such a delightful evening. Thank you @currently_the_boat for such a wonderful home cooked meal on dry land! And when we were on the boat and not entertaining, we were entertained by a constant parade of boats, ferries, logs, barges and the occasional cruise ship. What’s the best part about our boating journey so far? The new friends we get to make along the way! @currently_the_boat have begun their Great Loop journey and we were so excited when we found out that they would be making a stop in our “current” neck of woods! A tour of their beautiful Ranger Tug, some delicious dining, great conversation, and a quick grocery run for provisions, made for a super fun evening. Maggie and Bruce, thanks for the laughs and for all of the great advice! Safe travels and we hope to cross currents with you again some day. P.S. Bruce may or may not have snuck a selfie on my phone. I’ll let you be the judge. 😂😊
