As we prepare for our final move-in, I want to take a moment to celebrate the people who have been working tirelessly behind the scenes all summer: our RAs and the Resident Education team. 🤍

To every RA—thank you. You have sacrificed your time, energy, and summer to prepare to welcome our students, respond to emergencies, build community, and serve as student leaders whenever our institution needs you. Your work matters, and it does not go unnoticed.

A special thank you to everyone who poured into our RAs during training: VP Curtis Wright for your introduction, inspiration, and information; City of New Orleans and Emergency Management Coordinator Maxwell Milam for providing bystander prevention education and CPR training; God’s Will Foundation for sharing your story and creating space for our RAs to become Mental Health First Aid certified; Ms. Sierra Blanchard for the Title IX education; Ms. Dee for Customer Service; Mr. Elgin and Mrs. Dominique for the resource scavenger hunt; Ms. Bodnar for violence prevention and advocacy; AVP Judy Bracy for connecting our students to the handbook and what it means to be agents of the institution; Ms. Nakita with Sodexo; Ms. Unitra Long and Grace Mamou with counseling and wellness; Deputy Chief Ike Long and Chief Sarina Davenport with XUPD for discussing new laws and their impact on our students; Chief of Staff/ VP Ronald Carrere for connecting the university legacy to our mission and their development as leaders; NFL Champion & Leadership Strategist Mr. Greg Fassitt for helping our students understand the connection between leadership, character, and the heart work behind the hard work; and Dr. Ashley Baker for taking time away from Michigan State University to ensure our RAs were equipped to lead using an inclusive lens.

And to our GAs thank you, for being available day and night, preparing spaces, answering questions, and making sure our RAs felt confident going into move-in.

Thank you to our Residential Education Area Coordinators- Mr. Jeffrey Dixon for you dedication to overseeing the housing assignment process and Ms. Aniya Wooden for curating an impactful and intentional training!

- With Gratitude ARC💛

Two of the most important moments in a college students’ journey, is the moment they begin and the moment they see the culmination of their efforts at graduation 🎓

This journey began for our newest Xavierites this past weekend as we welcomed them home to Xavier University of Louisiana 💛

Welcome Class of 2030 & 2032! Let the journey begin 📍

Still Looking for Housing? We’ve Got Options!

If you’re still searching for housing for the Fall 2026 semester, don’t panic—we’re here to help.

🏠 On-Campus Housing
Our Housing team is actively working through the waitlist as spaces become available. Students who are fiscally cleared are being placed into available beds in waitlist order.

If your housing assignment was cancelled because you did not meet the fiscal clearance deadline, you’ll need to:
✅ Complete fiscal clearance
✅ Contact Residential Education to be added back to the active waitlist with proof of fiscal clearance either the email notification or the information on your fee bill.

While we continue making assignments, we also encourage students to explore several of Xavier’s preferred off-campus housing partners, including:

📍 Parkway NOLA – Just an 8-minute walk from campus
🩺 The Residences at LSU Health – Ideal for students in the health professions
🚌 Privateer Place – Xavier Shuttle service available
🏙️ Thirteen15 – Modern downtown apartment living

These communities work closely with Xavier students, but leases are negotiated directly with each apartment community.

Visit the Housing page for additional information or contact Residential Education with questions. We’re committed to helping you find a place to call home this fall.

Being in the room, where conversations are happening is the catalyst to being a part of the impact. Our panelist brought incredible insights on the current and future state of HBCUs.

We couldn’t be more excited about the path forward… we are leading the legacy. #hamptonalumniconference

“After winning @playnaia 2026 Cheer Nationals , one of the toughest competitions in the country… she opened her biology notes showing the real meaning of student athlete" - VP Curtis Wright

This is why we do it. Not just for trophies or rings but for degrees.....

At @xula1925, our athletes are scientists and chemists and lawyers and engineers- all while upholding the mission of our great institution.

Today we celebrate Trae Byrd @trae_denise — a Bio Pre-Med scholar-athlete — for earning her SECOND consecutive 4.0 semester GPA while competing at the highest level of collegiate cheer.

During the NAIA National Tournament, right after performing on the national stage, VP Wright captured a photo of Trae immediately studying for her biology exam.

Balancing national competition while pursuing a future in medicine is no small task, but Trae continues to embody the true meaning of a student-athlete.

Champion on the mat.
Future doctor in the classroom.

Congratulations Trae Byrd.
Your legacy is bigger than cheer. 💛⚜️
