In 2027, Hayes is going bigger than ever before - Tony-award winning musicals, farcical comedies, sci-fi cult hits, operatic love stories, and the return of sold-out shows.

The year will see Hayes in new places, with ‘Phar Lap: The Electro Swing Musical’ cantering to Carriageworks in July and a rule-breaking new musical in ‘Mack The Knife’ at the Foundry Theatre, bringing Hayes to a wider audience than we ever thought possible.

Subscriptions are open! Secure your favourite seats, save on every ticket, no booking fees, free exchanges, and Subscriber Q&A’s. This is the best way to join in for that Hayes magic.

See you in the foyer.

The award-winning hit of 2025 gallops back into town.

A gangly Kiwi racehorse. A trainer down on his luck. A nation ready to believe in a long-shot. The rags-to-riches story that galloped into history returns - reimagined with heart, wit, and a toe-tapping electro-swing score. The road isn’t easy – there are gambling scandals, double-crosses, an attempted shooting, and a career-threatening addiction to sugar. It’s high stakes, high drama, and highly historically accurate.

Phar Lap returns to Sydney in an expanded, unbridled production playing at Carriageworks, before a national tour including a season at Melbourne Theatre Company, Merrigong Theatre Company, Geelong Arts Centre, The Art House Wyong, and many more.

From 8 July at Carriageworks.

A heartfelt homage to a homegrown legend.

Hot on the heels of last year’s hit cabaret-concert ‘Barbra: The Greatest Star’ comes an exuberant show honouring a true Australian showbiz icon. Peter Allen is the kind of superstar whose multi-generational legacy deserves more than a typical tribute - it deserves a full-scale celebration.

From the high-octane showmanship of songs like “I Go to

It’s time to get an upgrade.

Jeremy Heere, an awkward teenager, gets a cheat code to high school in the form of a quantum supercomputer chip - a SQUIP. Will the popular kids accept him and Sync Up? Will his crush Christine feel the same way? Or will he learn that a cheat code doesn’t always work?

Based on the novel by Ned Vizzini, Joe Iconis’s sci-fi-infused score and Joe Tracz book became a viral sensation that took one teenage loser all the way to Broadway. Be More Chill is a coming of age story with a cult following and a contagious score.

From 14 September.
Directed and Choreographed by Cameron Mitchell.

Presented by Curveball Creative in association with Hayes Theatre Co.

A storm is brewing.

An epic tale of survival, loyalty and sacrifice, featuring a thrilling score from American folk/rock band the Avett Brothers. Set in 1888, during the final throes of the whaling trade, the story follows two brothers, the ship’s captain and first mate as they find themselves stranded in a lifeboat after their ship is wrecked at sea. Loosely based on a true story, this powerful, hauntingly beautiful and deeply moving show is filled with humour, love and constant surprises.

From 22 May.
Director: Drew Livingston
Music Supervisor: Victoria Falconer
Choreographer: Ellen Simpson

Presented by Curveball Creative in association with Strange Duck Productions and Hayes Theatre Co.

Had a delightful chat with the @sydneymorningherald Arts Editor about our beloved @hayestheatreco_official — the 2026 season, the theatrical magic that has been conjured here over the past decade, AND delighted to share the news that @richard_carroll and I will be continuing as Artistic Directors for another two years! ✨

SO proud of everything this mighty hub of music theatre and cabaret has achieved — with the knowledge that there’s still so much more to come. See pic two: our stunning array of directors for 2026 ❤️‍🔥

Sending a HUGE thank you to the incredible community of artists, audiences and supporters who make up the Hayes ecology. The creativity, courage and brilliance brought to this space inspires us every single day.

Curveball Creative’s Once on This Island has completely taken over Hayes! With a cast whose voices and stories are as powerful as the production itself. We’ve seen laughter, we’ve seen tears, and we’ve seen audiences rise to their feet. This one’s definitely a heart-stealer 💛

An intimate production that somehow feels grand. This is their final week. Don’t blink or you’ll miss it.
