Do you know about the first-ever lesbian publication, Vice Versa? Curve paid our respects on a recent visit to the Mazer Lesbian Archives in LA, which houses the original 1947 print copy. *Corrections: • It wasn't Paramount but RKO Studios • There were no copy machines, so Lisa Ben typed 8 carbon copies twice because her boss told her : “if you’re not busy, look busy”. Vice Versa was founded by Lisa Ben (aka "Lesbian"), who created the publication while working at RKO Studios. After she stopped printing Vice Versa, she went on to write for other historic lesbian publications, Daughters of Bilitis and The Ladder. Thank you to Kymn Goldstein, the Executive Director of @mazerlesbianarchives for taking Curve founder @francostevens back in time!

In 1995, we launched Curve’s Lesbian Life Photo Contest, inviting readers to show us what their lives actually looked like. And they did. Our partners. Our friends. Our families. The people who mattered to us. Before Instagram, Curve readers mailed us photographs of their lives (That’s right, snail mail!). We’re proud to preserve this history in the Curve Archive. 31 years later, you're still sharing your lives with us. This year, we received more than 400 entries for the 2026 Curve Photo Contest, celebrating LGBTQ+ women and nonbinary people, including the duos in this reel. 🏀 Curve rep Maddy reports on our last Portland Fire WNBA game of the season! The Mazer Lesbian Archives has a whopping 80 BOXES of Curve archival material! 👏 We are so blessed to have @mazerlesbianarchives preserve our history, and most importantly, make it available and free to the public. Curve founder @francostevens recently visited the Mazer for a tour of Curve's archive. In this video, they share photos that used to live on Franco's Curve office desk.
