Getting my degree took longer than planned but, switching to Arts Education turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made for myself. I came to Syracuse University with a fire in my belly for making art that was intentional and impactful as an Art and Design HS alumni. But was met with a level of discouragement of what I should or shouldnt achieve as an artist. Always feeling like what I creatively produced was too much for people. My @cuse_nurho family truly nurtured my passionate creative spirit for all things art. With their love and care I realized my passion for Arts Education. Especially with the few handful of professors like @sharifceramics and @cedboogie357 that emphasized the value in student voices! So glad to have learned all I can as an artist educator for life! I’m taking this B.F.A in Arts Education everywhere! @syracuseu @su_vpa @su_vpa_school_of_art @suschoolofed #artseducation #arteducator #classof2023 #twins

Nu Rho Poetic Society truly aims to support and guide a poet's innate ability of poetic expression through the arts, activism, and arts education. As President I hope to emphasize on @syracuseu campus the importance of writing and expression for ourselves and the larger world around us. Follow @cuse_nurho for more! Survivorship goes beyond the school we inhabit or the social circles we commune in, it also disproportionately affects victims based on the pigment of their skin. During this month and every other day until justice is restored, SWSSU chooses to uplift and unify every marginalized voice in the community in order to truly enact change at Syracuse and beyond.

As we wind down in the celebration of Black History Month, we wanted to create a safe space for sharing and reflection. In collaboration with Nu Rho Poetic Society, we will be hosting a writing workshop centered around BIPOC survivorship and healing from sexual trauma. All are welcome to support and share in this experience.

To fellow BIPOC survivors, continue to be resilient and resistant in the face of all the intersections violence chooses to throw your own way, your very existence is defiance, and to our allies, our liberation always been and always will be intertwined.
