So many great folks givin’ it up—time, money, food, wine, auction items—at the 16th Annual Project Zin, which raised $400,000-plus for the Down Syndrome Connection of the Bay Area (#DSCBA). Pleasure meeting former sportscaster Mark Ibañez (pic 1, left), the emcee, and Franco Finn (Warriors), who returned as auctioneer.
.
. #AppellationHealdsburg, Cali’s best resort per Travel + Leisure, hosted the fundraiser for the first time.
.
. Winemaker Clay Mauritson (pic 2) and his wife, Carrie, credit a DSCBA predecessor with providing crucial support after their son Brady’s #DownSyndrome diagnosis. #ProjectZin is their way to assist others.
.
. Pre-auction, attendees sampled food from local restaurants & hotels while sipping Zinfandels from 21 top producers. Fave dishes, wine, and people William & I encountered along the way: ...
.
. Sean & Melissa McGaughey @Troubadour.Bread (congrats on Mich star), whose steelhead trout w/smoky tomato tasted even better than it looked.
.
. Carlos Mojica @GuisoLatinFusion, who served up oozing-with-flavor slow-braised Liberty duck with barbacoa sauce and avocado foam.
.
. #ProjectZin cofounder Charlie Palmer @AppellationHealdsburg & son Reed Palmer @FoliaBarAndKitchen; Reed’s silky white pizza w/onion, pistachio, Gorgonzola was so good.
.
. NOLA native Art Murray @FlambeauxWine donated Mardi Gras 2027 & Zin-vertical packages.
.
. Chef Ann Tussey @SweetTsSouthern—loved her Memphis pork nachos, especially house-made cheese sauce.
.
. DennisMcCarter @McCarterCellars (Pinots keep racking up awards), looking ever so dapper in wine shirt.
.
. Clockwise from top left: pork tenderloin @GoodnightsHealdsburg, flawless pasty @TheSelvedgeInn (by SingleThread), seafood tacos @DryCreekKitchen, jambalaya + gazpacho @TheParishCafe, & duck prosciutto @TheBurrowHB.
.
. Large-format bottles from all 21 wineries kicked off the Live Auction.
.
. Abundance of sweets by area restaurants (credit last pic).
.
. Brady missed Project Zin this year. He just entered a special program at Clemson University. ESPN donated the last lot, a Clemson vs. Cal football package.
.
. Props to @GreenleafProduceCo and @AllenBrothersSteaks for donating produce & proteins.

Project Zin weekend, 2026 🫶🏻
…in adjectives

She was sweet! 🍬

She was salty 🐟⛴️

She was hot 🔥

She was refreshing 🥤

She was delicious 🍽️

She was aesthetic 💃

She was a bit crabby 🦀

She was, at times, over-served 🍷

But she was worth many-a-cheers🥂

And I can’t wait for the next one! ✨

As Pigs & Pinot approaches this Friday, we’re reminded why this weekend matters.

Beyond the Pinot Noir tastings, the celebrity chefs, and the incredible food, this event exists to create opportunity. Culinary scholarships at the @theculinaryinstituteofamerica and @sonomastateuniversity. Sommelier certifications for hospitality professionals. Music and arts programs for kids across Sonoma County. Every ticket, every donation, every moment of this weekend supports the Palmer Family Education Foundation and the students, families, and future industry leaders who need it most.

This is what happens when wine country comes together with purpose.

Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it.

Learn more about the Palmer Family Education Foundation and how Pigs & Pinot changes lives at the link in bio. And we’ll see you this Friday.

2025 was a milestone year for us, bringing @appellation_healdsburg to life. It was also a big year for our family, welcoming my grandson Everett, celebrating the engagement of Nicole and Randall, and spending quality time with Rowan - especially on the tractor ! Lisa and I shared adventures from Paris to Nantucket to Lodi and everywhere in between, with good friends, great food, and most importantly - fantastic champagne
We opened new restaurants, celebrated the communities of Healdsburg, Lodi, and Paso Robles, and even brought my first sushi concept to life - @akoyanyc We kept the pizza oven hot with @aperibar Pizza of the Month alongside an incredible lineup of guest chefs. I was proud to support @citymeals , to join Tournament of Champions for the first time, and to be honored to be featured on the @theculinaryinstituteofamerica Walk of Fame. We also hosted our signature events, including Pigs & Pinot, year two of MoHi Food & Wine, and Project Zin.
As the year comes to a close, I’m grateful to the teams across Charlie Palmer Collective and Appellation .. none of this happens without their hard work and passion

Now let’s party tonight at the grand @appellation_healdsburg NYE celebration ! Cheers to 2026
