Why In-Season Training?

In-season athletics is NOT the time to stop training for all athletes, training through your season is the time to maintain strength, speed, power, and durability so athletes can continue performing at their best when the games matter most.

Here are some reasons why in-season training is crucial for your athletic performance:

✅Reduce Risk of Injury: Targeted strength and mobility work acts as an insurance policy, protecting joints and tendons from overuse and fatigue.

✅Preserve Strength and Power: Regular lifting ensures you do not lose speed and muscle strength that you built in the off-season.

✅Aids in Recovery: Keeping a baseline of strength helps your muscles recover faster and reduces overall soreness.

In-season training should look different than the offseason—but it should never disappear.

#FeatureFriday

Christian West (aka C-WEST), the man himself is this week’s Feature Friday! Christian is one of our dominant collegiate athletes who comes in 4x a week to get his training done in order to stay on top of his game! He is prepping to return for his sophomore football season for the UW-Whitewater Warhawks! C-West has been a huge part of our ETS Fam and we could not be more proud of him and all of his hard work, dedication on perfecting his craft, and being a solid role model to the younger ETS athletes as well! Keep grinding and keep working hard, Christian!

Why Double Contact Hurdle Jumps?

Double contact hurdle jumps can safely accumulate high-volume plyometric training, establish an athletic rhythm, and prepare their lower-body tendons for maximal output.

Benefits of Double Contact Hurdle Jumps:

✅Reduces CNS Fatigue: The double-bounce acts as a buffer, making the drill less taxing one the nervous system with continuous max effort jumps.

✅Teaches Kinetic Timing and Rhythm: The continuous double-bounce helps athletes find fluid movement cadence, directly transferring to sports requiring repetitive acceleration.

✅Develops Tendon Stiffness: The auxiliary bounce helps condition a “stiff-lock” ankle mechanic, prepping the achilles tendon and lower leg to store and release elastic energy.

✅Scaleable for All Levels: It allows younger or developmental athletes to safely utilize larger obstacles without sacrificing proper structural alignment.
