Wrestling doesn't always get the recognition it deserves. Our athletes are some of the hardest working kids around. They push through adversity, and they constantly have to develop what we call a "short memory" in order to stay focused on their goals. In this sport, there is nobody to pass the ball to (respectfully), and you only go as far as you're willing to work towards. Moments like this are special to us because we know how much our kids deserve recognition for their hard work regardless of their results. Maddy was considering quitting two weeks before this tournament because, as a young wrestler, you don't fully understand the "why" just yet. This is an example of the "why." She will influence the next generation of female wrestling. Further pushing our sport to new horizons and helping to put Amityville wrestling back to where it belongs.. in the spotlight.
