Thank you to everyone that came out and participated on Sunday for another great @pedorthic_canada event!
We had Pedorthists join us from Calgary, Kingston, GTA and of course the local Ottawa crowd.

I want to send a huge shout out to the team of professionals at @activehealthinstitute, @alyssah.physio and Dan you were great! 🙌 What a thorough bike fit demonstration.

Thank you to Vince from the @cycleryottawa for your wealth of knowledge when it comes to anything and everything bike gear related, and @haymanjulia for your knowledge in the field of Pedorthics and expertise with custom orthotics craftsmanship.

A special thank you to @bauerfeindmedicalcanada
For sponsoring the delicious catered lunch.

I think it's safe to say every single participant came out of that event with a wealth of new knowledge we can hopefully all start applying in our own practices!

Last but not least, thank you to the few brave ones that stuck around for a small but spicy 🌶 spin class hosted by Wheelhouse followed by some well-deserved cold ones! 🦵👣

Earlier this month, @emilyflynn2 and I travelled down to the Boston area to relax by the ocean, ride our bikes and reconnect with family friends.

One of the most surprising things I brought home from that trip was sparked by a sign I noticed while riding into a neighbouring town: HEARTSafe Community.

Massachusetts was an early home of the HEARTSafe movement, helping communities improve survival from sudden cardiac arrest through stronger systems around CPR, public access to AEDs and emergency response.

Today, the @citizencprf administers a national HEARTSafe Community program built around 13 elements, including training at least 15% of the community in CPR each year, making AEDs accessible where people gather, maintaining AED registries connected to 911, dispatcher-assisted CPR, AED-equipped first responders and practised cardiac emergency response plans.

More than 600 communities across the United States have earned the designation, which must be renewed every three years. Similar initiatives have taken root around the world, including in Australia and New Zealand.

Earlier this year, I shared the story of Girona’s Territori Cardioprotegit program, a public-health initiative that has built a network of more than 1,000 AEDs across the Girona region of Spain. It was an inspiring example of what coordinated public-health leadership can accomplish at scale, but it left me thinking meaningful change like this had to start at the top.

HEARTSafe challenges that assumption. Its success is driven by communities choosing to act. Whether it’s a region, municipality or organization responsible for public spaces, HEARTSafe shows that we don’t have to wait for change to come from the top. We can take meaningful action today. All we need is a commitment to start.

@tourdegatineau looked a little different this year. A midweek edition, just days before Worlds in Montréal, which brought some of the fastest women in cycling to race right in our backyard.

Two days of racing with five of our girls on the start line. Proud of the five of them and the way they showed up, raced hard, and took on every bit of it.

And of course, grateful for the sponsors who keep showing up for us too. @markmotorsgroup once again keeping Chris and Steve rolling in the caravan and backing up the girls throughout the race 🚙

And just like that, another Tour de Gatineau in the books 🤍
