POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Last month, I got to share a table with some super talented @scbwi_socal authors and illustrators at the Barnes & Noble in Victorville @bnvictorville. It was so great catching up with old friends and making new friends. Everyone had a wealth of knowledge to share about their experiences in the publishing world.

Thank you so much Carlene for setting this up. It was so nice seeing you again!

Dummy Bears in the wild🐻 (minus @susischaeferart and @crlynle 😢) I've been a part of this kidlit critique group for a while. And they are an honest + kind + fun to hang out group! I'm so glad we got to be starstruck by all of the art at @lucasmuseum together💛

I saw some new pieces like these sequential drawings by Picasso.

Of course the Norman Rockwell section💛

I got to stop by the Photography section too. So many iconic photos.

LOVE💛💛💛 I really like black and white photography.

I want to draw more...💛

I got to celebrate my friend's book launch at @belcantobooks ✨ @lisajohnstonhancock 's Santiago and Great Bear is now out!
Since I've started making books, Lisa has been my coffee work pal, critique partner, indie bookstore adventurer and a great friend💛 I feel so lucky to see her growth as an author illustrator. She definitely inspires and motivates me. Lisa poured so much love and hard work to Santiago and Great Bear. Her kindness and love of nature shines in this book. Congratulations Lisa!

Replicating Mary Blair’s concept art for Disney’s, Peter Pan (1953)🪄🎨🧚🏻🏴‍☠️

Here are just a few of the amazing replicants my students have painted so far in this round of Children of The Craft’s, Replicant Gouache Zoom Course! We’re off to a great start!

Just look at those details, and all that gorgeous texture!🤤

For this piece we really focused on tonal colours and how to desaturate with complimentary colours. We also allowed ourselves to paint the smaller details with a looseness and energy that Mary would be proud of… I know I am! 🥹👏👏👏👏

I have more of these to post, so stay tuned! And if you’d like to be the first to hear about the next round of classes, as well as other courses, and have access to exclusive discounts and giveaways, then sign up for my newsletter 🪄💌link in bio🔗✨
