It’s hard to say goodbye to a place you’ve known as home for the past 3 years of your life. It’s even harder to say goodbye to the people that made it feel that way. Coming into Iowa western as a hot head freshman, my only goal was to All American then leave without any thought of how college would change me. To my coaches: watts, curry and Malcom, thank you for taking the chance on me and pushing me to be the leader and wrestler I grew to become. You guys have showed me different sides of wrestling that I couldn’t really comprehend before. Curry, you showed me that even though wrestling is one of the most competitive sports, it’s so easy to just compete and have fun. While I didn’t really do well with the “have fun” part of competing, you always had me dying laughing and pushed me to work my ass off not just for myself, but for a team that I’m honored to have led. To Malcom, I struggled a lot mentally toward the end of the year and you showed me that wrestling isn’t as anxiety inducing as I made it out to be. You showed me some of the best technique I’ve seen and and I can’t thank you enough for how you helped me this year. To watts, you brought me into the program, you took a chance on me, you saw potential in me and helped me be able to see it in myself. I am forever grateful to you for what you have done for me and continue to do for me. To my teammates, I love you guys so much. Even when I got mad and yelled in the room or wouldn’t say anything at all, each and every one of you pushed me to grow and forced me to challenge myself everyday. Whether it be in the wrestling room or just out in the world. You guys have brought me out of the bubble I put myself in and I’m beyond thankful for that. I grew into a person I never thought I’d become because of you all❤️ to my parents, you guys do beyond enough for me and bet on me through my ups and downs, you guys have made this experience possible for me❤️ Thank you God for making me a wrestler, I wouldn’t want to be anything else. #sailsup🏴‍☠️
