You could call it a research trip, or ostensibly a "preliminary" shoot, but TRANSMISSION is in motion after spending several weeks starting in Sarajevo, then onto Bucharest and finishing in Tbilisi, as live performance, great conversations, and explorations in image, sound, and geography deepened our understanding of the subject material and sociopolitical and cultural contexts that permeate our movie. It would be one thing to have this experience alone, but to be able to have @leetesche and @ryan_algiers co-piloting our time abroad was a sonic gift, images by the myth himself @cyrusduff, visits from the great @mersihahusagic and @siljkusa as the family of collaborators expanded and got to spend time with one another, the first in-person conversation of many with the brilliant @danapaparuz, the support and DJ mastery of @razvan.cliza and @clubcontrol, the kindness of the brave Rusudan Glurjidze and Zurab Magalashvili, the incredible Kenan Zekić and his Bosnia-based NGO INDI+E (who introduced us to the fabulously talented @nedim_zlatar), and many beautiful new friends whose faces and stories will color our work. None of it would be possible without Levan Lomjaria, who is makes things happen at the eleventh hour. It's honestly a bit overwhelming seeing that roster of names and thinking about how a wonderful group of people have come together through this movie; something I will never take for granted. We still have a whole script to shoot, so this is just the beginning — we've backed ourselves into the most exciting of corners, and the only way out is with a finished film.

(Also I smashed my phone on the sidewalk on the second day of work in Sarajevo, hence the lack of updates, so expect an ongoing photo dump of food pics over the coming days, which is maybe more exciting to the people who read these.)
