@hyroxsa CAPE TOWN 🔥

I, @luke.hertz gained a whole new level of respect for these athletes. What they put their bodies through, they're a different breed.

Watching one of my brothers @d.thesner go to work was something special, but this is a shoutout to every single athlete who stepped onto that floor and left everything out there. Respect. 🫡

Side note: this wasn't supposed to be the finished piece. I exported this draft just to check how it looked on the phone, and there were still a few tweaks I'd have loved to make on it, but in the chaos of it all, studying, shooting, running on 2am energy, all my HYROX footage got corrupted.

Also got footage of Joshua Kloosman, a future pro, mark my words.

The good news: it's not lost. I can see it, it's there. Paid recovery tools picked it up instantly but... nah.
At least I managed to retrieve this one of Dylan. The rest? That's too much for right now. One day. That memory card gets set aside for now.

If anyone's got a solid licensed recovery tool and you're in Cape Town or surrounding, I'd really appreciate a message. I'll make the trip and bring the coffee. ☕🙏

Crossing the finish line is just the first step, how you manage your post-race recovery sets the tone for your return to training.

We wrapped up our series with Dylan as he looks ahead to his immediate post-event reset following the Hyrox Pro division. High-intensity competition leads to significant acute muscle fatigue, microscopic tissue strain, and joint load.

Implementing structured passive recovery modalities, such as target sports massage, pneumatic compression therapy, and electrical stimulation, aids in easing post-race soreness, restoring resting muscle length, and supporting normal mobility.

The taper phase isn't about taking your foot off the gas, it's about giving your body the space to adapt and rebuild.

We sat down with Dylan as he enters the final stretch before Hyrox. High-volume training blocks place significant strain on muscle tissue, making structured recovery strategies key to managing physical fatigue and support optimal movement.

Targeted modalities like compression boots, electrical stimulation, and cupping are designed to assist muscle recovery, improve local circulation, and reduce post-training tightness as part of an individualized management plan.

Stepping back into the Men’s Pro division with a clear goal in mind.

We caught up with Dylan, Manager at F45 Somerset West, as he dials in his final prep for Hyrox. Moving heavy weights at a Pro level isn't just about training intensity, it's about how effectively you recover between sessions.

By integrating a structured maintenance recovery program into his routine, Dylan keeps his body moving efficiently and pain-free under high volume.

Forever grateful for taking that first step into @f45_training_somersetwest exactly one year ago today.

What started as a fitness journey became so much more. It brought growth, memories, friendships, and some truly incredible people across my path.

Without a doubt, one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Here’s to the journey, the lessons, and the people who made it so special. ✨
