Happy Birthday yesterday to drummer Derrick “D’Mar” Martin! Don’t be fooled by the subdued low-tech presence here in this iPhone photo I took in 2014. D’Mar is legend for dynamic drumming acrobatics. I just haven’t gotten one of his vertical leaps on camera yet.
He’s backing @bobmargolin and @bobcorritore here.

A very long but amazing weekend at the 2nd annual Downtown Tacoma Blues Festival. In addition to playing 2 sets, I took my first crack at event photography... pretty happy with the results. I'd like to think a little musical inclination helps in capturing that magic... maybe? Also helps when the performers are as excellent as these wonderful people.

Not many left that can play a harp like @the_real_rick_estrin and a superb band keeping him going.

Just two snazzy drummers. One, a Blues Award winner and the other, most hair! #longbeachblues #longbeachbluessociety
