Last month I travelled up to @analoguecatalogue in Newry for @softgutsongcamp !!

I was so delighted to finally get the chance to attend, after previous applications, including one offer which I unfortunately had scheduling issues get in the way of!

Softgut Song Camp is a 48-hour whirlwind of creativity, bringing together songwriters and producers to meet, collaborate and create.

No joke, after arriving and grabbing a quick breakfast, we headed straight to our studios and got stuck into writing a song with two people we’d only just met! It was such a fun and interesting experience getting to learn about other people’s processes and figuring out how to bring our different approaches together to create something entirely new in such a short space of time.

We worked from around 10am until 9pm, before heading around the three rooms to hear what everyone had been working on that day!

You are currently listening to the track ‘What I’ve Gotta Do’ made on day 1 by @wearerevue, @clarkeciaran and I :)

We were also VERY well fed over the weekend, which meant we could put all our energy into the creative stuff (although we may also have enjoyed a few drinks in the evenings 👀).

Day two, we did it all again with new groups, getting to work with two more people each and creating something completely different! We were also joined by photographer @annalogue.jpeg , so we had a little photoshoot and were feeling fly 💅

It was utterly exhausting in the most fantastic way possible. Such a brilliant opportunity to meet other creatives, learn from each other and get out of your usual way of working.

A massive thank you to @ciaranlavery, @nikki_macrae and @carlsmallaudio for running and facilitating such a brilliant weekend, and to Julie McLarnon for welcoming us into her lovely studios.

Thinking of everyone heading up for the next camp in November and hoping you all have the best time!! 💜

One of the joys of getting to run our camps at @analoguecatalogue is the fact that Julie McLarnon has managed to build a complete labyrinth.

We are always shouting about the three gorgeous studio rooms but beyond them ACAT has cosy kitchens, a separate cottage, dorms for everyone, a spot to chill out (and access a bit of wifi if you fancy it) and loads of outdoor space to go for a dander and take a breather (and maybe get pestered by the donkeys).

Having this means everyone gets to genuinely spend time together and form connections beyond the writing and recording, from morning through to night each day. Chances are it’ll also mean you can’t get away from us when we won’t shut up about PROs and release plans too but I promise we mean well, we are just very nerdy ❤️

Our next camp is one month away, taking place from the 13th to the 15th November! Applications are still open for songwriters and producers who are interested in joining us - follow the link in our bio.

One week on since we all left @analoguecatalogue (one of us RICH in packets of Banshee Bones) after the most gorgeous weekend together ❤️

Before we veer quickly towards our November camp we have to do one more big shout out to everyone in these brilliant shots by @annalogue.jpeg

Our producers,
@d6ire | @ciarancmusic | @alexyardleymusic

Our writers,
@lukewarmdaily | @nanfeemusic | @youreagoodswim | @vonnie.jpeg | @queenbitchmusic | @wearerevue / @emaloudon

The team (yes we are shouting about ourselves too 😘)
@ciaranlavery | @nikki_macrae | @carlsmallaudio | Julie McLarnon

Thanks so much to all of you for joining us from all across Ireland, Glasgow and London to bring so much joy to a big (probably not haunted) studio out in the countryside!

Um no I’m not nostalgic about something that happened less than a week ago, you are 😭❤️

We are so delighted to share this gorgeous video by @annalogue.jpeg who joined us on day two of the camp to document each trio in their studio rooms (as well as to provide a bit of guitar and vocals upon request 😘)

Everyone you’ll see in this video was a stranger to each other when we met up at @analoguecatalogue on Saturday morning. No one knew who they were going to work with each day, and so each track you’ll hear was created from complete scratch, written and recorded over the course of around six hours. A full day of constant collaboration, experimentation, kindness and craic with every single person developing songs that hadn’t even existed as thoughts a day prior!

We loved this group so much & can’t wait to follow everything they have ahead of themselves. You should be a dote & follow them too 😎

In order of appearance in the video (donkeys aside):

Room 1: @ciarancmusic @youreagoodswim @lukewarmdaily
Room 2: @d6ire @vonnie.jpeg @queenbitchmusic
Room 3: @alexyardleymusic @wearerevue @nanfeemusic

We have only two more camps this year so if you are a producer or writer interested in joining us be sure to follow the link in our bio!

Thanks as always to @imro.music for making this possible ❤️

Team SGSC,
@ciaranlavery & @nikki_macrae xx
