The year was a lot.
But there were so many people who added to making it better and helping me through.
Here is a glimpse of it.
Thank you for it.
Wishing you well for the year ahead and looking back at 2023 joyously.

তুমি কেমন করে গান করো হে গুণী,
আমি অবাক্‌ হয়ে শুনি কেবল শুনি।।
A large part of my childhood and growing up, belongs to him. I've grown up listening to his songs, poetry, and prose pieces— a thing common to most bengali kids. But my relationship with Tagore has had numerous ups and downs.

His songs and poems have held an all over different level of significance and depth at different stages of my life. There have been nights when I've cried to
আমি তোমার বিরহে রহিব বিলীন
তোমাতে করিব বাস,
দীর্ঘ দিবস, দীর্ঘ রজনি, দীর্ঘ বরস-মাস ||
While on others I've dozed off to sleep with "মাঝে মাঝে তব দেখা পাই"
There have been mornings when I've opened my heart with "তোমার খোলা হাওয়া", and cloudy evenings when "মেঘ বলেছে যাব যাব", has felt like a warm embrace.

Love has at times felt like an extract from KABULIWALA— simple, childish and warm, and sometimes a song from CHITRANGADA — Desperate, complex and restless, much like
" Okritartho Jouboner dirghosshashe boshontore korilo byakul", and in despair seemed like, "Ami shudhu ek raatrer phota, oronyer pitri-matri heen phool"

Back in childhood, the songs of Gitanjali seemed like mere love songs. The teenage years felt a deep resonance with them, the kind of connection that one feels with the love of his life, that one admires and sings everyday. Much later through the road did I realise they were but offerings to the Almighty— songs that seek union with the divine, and shelter in his grace.
রয়েছ তুমি, এ কথা কবে
জীবন-মাঝে সহজ হবে,
আপনি কবে তোমারি নাম,
ধ্বনিবে সব কাজে ||
The way romance fades into devotion, is gentle— as subtle as life's union with deathlessness.

The BRAHMYO-UPASHAK worships the formless divine in gitanjali, but the barrier between the undefined Almighty and the Lord adorned with form, fragrance and colour, is wiped off as Bhanusingha, writes
পিনহ ঝটিত কুসুমহার, পিনহ নীল আঙিয়া।
সুন্দরী সিন্দূর দেকে, সীঁথি করহ রাঙিয়া।
No mortal barrier has ever remained significant before the turbid waves of human emotions.
