1 YEAR IN LA:

Man, it’s so crazy how time flies. A year full of firsts. First time living in another state. First time not having thanksgiving with my family. First time making thanksgiving by myself. First time celebrating halloween as an adult. First time getting paid to be on a show. If you were to tell me that I would come into being my own person and cultivating my own life and path in this way, I would have never believed you. I’m eternally grateful to Mallewi for supporting and granting me space on this cliff jump and to Jay, Austin and Pockett for creating memories with me and Manny for stopping by seeing me. I love this life, lets see what another year has in store! 🫂🫀

Destined.

Last Wednesday, I graduated from @georgiastateuniversity with my Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Concentration in Arts and Sciences. I came to college unaware of what I wanted to do in life or how I would make an impact. However, I took the leap of faith knowing that God would do a thing with my yes. And that He did.

These past four years not only did I advance my knowledge in multiple disciplines—namely, psychology, sociology, and Africana studies— but I also learned so much about life, about myself, and understood what it truly means to be loved, known, and kept by Jesus. Through every celebratory moment, all of my frustration, uncertainties, and STRONG desires of giving up, one thing remained consistent and it was the heartbeat of my Creator beating through my own. He is the reason I was able to walk across that stage. I am blessed beyond measure, and I owe it all to the Lord.

To my family, friends, dorm neighbors, classmates, student success family, and anyone else I met along the way, thank you for being a part of my journey in any capacity. I am a firm believer in everything happens for a reason, and that God would permit things to occur in life for His glory and for my good. And I’ve seen that transpire in each person I have encountered, the people that have motivated me to continue, that have shown me love and support, that has prayed over me, that has helped me study, or whatever the case may be. So I thank you and honor you!

To my younger self, let it be known that every word curse spoken against your success has been broken, and that you will continue to do all the things God has destined you to do. I hope you’re proud :))!!

I will continue my journey as an elementary school educator, creating spaces for overlooked students to feel seen, challenged to grow, and championed to reach for the stars just like their teacher!
