Now that Marsupial is out (go watch it), I’ve been thinking about what an honor it was to screen Marsupial at film festivals alongside so many other talented filmmakers. There’s something special about showing your film in a theater to people who love the art form as much as you do.

This film taught me more than I can put into words. But the moments that stay with me are the ones when someone told me how the film made them feel, or that they saw themselves in it. That’s the whole reason we do this. Those are the moments that inspire me to make the next film. Until then, go watch Marsupial. Link in bio!

Special thanks to all the festivals that screened Marsupial!! Forever grateful.

I cannot believe this exhibition happened in this calendar year. 31 has felt like the longest year of my life, but I am so grateful for everything we’ve done. I’m finally turning 32 tomorrow (🪐Saturn RETURNED).

From curating multiple shows at @hyphenspace_ , having my first solo show in TX, to launching the inaugural @daafilmfest - I am profoundly aware that this work could not have been done without the passionate, talented individuals that I have the privilege of being in community with. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for everyone that I’ve been able to work and play with this year. Thank y’all for being my community.

Thank you to @at_leili for being the best curator and friend an artist can ask for, @stephaniedrenka for creating a space for us, @alyx.ng and @vibrantventurer for being with me from the very start (and for the delicious custom drink), @mario_zie for the initial photography, @charcuterie_chic_dfw for the lovely spread, and of course @jorenzo_ma for your tireless dedication to telling beautiful stories and capturing my show with your incredible eye & edit.

🎂 for my bday, I’d really appreciate if yall donated to @daaartclub for @northtexasgivingday (link in bio). It’ll help us pay better artist honorariums, develop stronger public programming (like @daafilmfest & @gingerroots.tx ), and make our work more sustainable long-term.

{ Love when our home looks like this }
We hosted the Dallas Asian American Film Festival after party at our private home studio and had filmmakers, artists, friends + a whole bunch of people I’d never met before.

Four years into living + working here, nights like this make me realize this is one of my favorite things we get to do with this place. Make things, bring people together and see what comes out of it.

Really proud that Kessler Studios got to be one of the host venues in our city alongside the Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Center + Crow Museum of Asian Art. ❤️

Very happy to be a small part of what DAAFF is building in Dallas.

On Saturday, Aug. 29, the Dallas Asian American Film Festival was a sold-out event that put Asian American filmmakers from across Texas in the spotlight.

The festival featured 10 films, including animated and experimental shorts, live-action films and a feature presentation. 70% of the films were from Texas, and 50% were from North Texas.

See how the festival is helping give homegrown filmmakers a bigger platform at the link in our bio. #DallasFilm #AsianAmericanFilm #NorthTexas
