It’s been three years today that my mom passed away. I still think about her every single day. It’s very strange and sad to not have her physically here as a part of our lives anymore, but I do know that she would be proud of where I’m at. She always was. I wish she could come see our little homestead and how we’ve turned it into a peaceful little place of our own design. I miss the nonstop adoration and support she would give me in all of my endeavors, especially the creative ones. I still hear her saying “I just love it, Ad” when I would send her a photo of a new artwork before I shared it with anyone else. Or how much she celebrated me becoming a college teacher.

Lately I’ve thought about how much music was a major part of her life, not just that she was an avid fan going to concerts on a weekly basis with my dad, but that she grew up in a household where her father, a broadway singer who took great pride in his voice and musical abilities, encouraged her to play piano from such an early age. She loved to flaunt that she even performed at Carnegie Hall once, which is one of the places we spread some of her ashes at.

I have a fond memory from several years ago where she randomly started playing some Beatles songs on the piano during a visit I took back to NY, something I hadn’t heard from her since way before I moved out to Portland nearly 20 years ago. Somewhere amidst my playing and enjoying music, along with the time while working on art, do I feel like she is there still enjoying it all with me. Love you mom ♥️

Hey Ma! We made the paper! Thanks to the @willametteweek and those who voted to include us as one of Portland’s best new bands. We are shocked! Such an honor. ❤️

Very much beyond stoked and honored to be opening things up for @voxtrot_atx at @polarishallpdx next Tuesday, I’ve been a fan of this band since I was a wee 19 year old. Dreams can come true!

Corey is recovering from surgery so we will have a guest drummer, but if all goes to plan Corey will be there still singing his parts on stage. ❤️
