A bit of sapphic love for your feed today 🥰
October is recognized as LGBTQ+ History month 💕🌈
This short video, is a prequel to our MAHAL projects from Issue 003. As we close our most cherished issue to date, we would like to share a backstory to how we got here!

Our amazing artist @justyourordinarymicrowave created a prequel video of our Special Edition COMIC! ✨ Titled “Mahal: The Fruition of Love”
🌞🌙
⭐️Which you can find alongside our MAHAL MAGAZINE located on our website (auramagaziine.com). Our team behind AuraMagaziine dedicated so much hardwork into these projects. Truly bringing the vision and feeling of Mahal, to life. Please check our page for the full & proper list of credits behind this complete project!

Our artist team put in incredible work into this comic itself. Unlike the traditional comic, Mahal’s comic arrays a rainbow full of color, each page dedicating poetic scenes and script. Flipping through the comic pages, brings the sense of wearing rose tinted glasses.
The traditional meaning of Mahal, in the Philippines, means endearing love. While the comic itself is open to many interpretations of Mahal, the aspect of this video short itself, embraces love between two feminine characters. Solana (the sun) & Lunaris (the moon). The meaning of their names is important to the metaphorical aspect of the comic.

Within our Magazine Issue 003, features a collection of pieces in relation to “Mahal” from our collaborators. Ranging from photography, paintings & hand created artwork, to poems, and stories. We are so happy to share these experiences & projects with you, as we close 2026. We love everyone who loves Aura, and are so excited to continue sharing the journey with everybody. We want to thank our amazing teams, from our very first issue, to this present day Issue 003, to the issue’s coming to life in the future. MAHAL KITA! ❤️❤️

why can't the media write good female anti-heroes anymore?

we used to have Amy Dunne from Gone Girl and Fleabag. now we've got girls who are 'edgy' and instantly forgiven. so what changed? let's talk about it...

🏹ISSUE 003: MAHAL cover launch

This issue is meant to signify the love that surrounds us in our everyday lives. Through girl friendships, our artistry, the things we create, the places we’ve called home, or even a place we no longer live in, we all experience the feeling of mahal (love) in different ways.
With this issue, I wanted to explore all the ways love exists around us, beyond just romantic love. Inspired by my Filipino background, Mahal felt like the perfect word to capture that feeling.

A huge thank you to our photographer @ogpratt.jpg for shooting @samarrizek & @shairalgustilo , creative director @shairalgustilo and @anakamonet @monetnotme for illustrating this beautiful cover.

a special thank you to ALL of our ISSUE 003 members, and contributors this issue couldn’t happen without you. with our zine designers working super hard to finalize this beautiful zine for you, shoutout @daes.ideas @whoisk1nah @i8lotus @astronatcreates @lily.turri & @shairalgustilo 🩷 you bring everything we’re envisioning for this issue.

we can’t wait for you to have your very own personal copy 🥹

what if magical girl went dark?

sure, sailor moon meant seeing girls with magical powers who also navigated the day-to-day realities of coming-of-age...

but where are the stories that openly acknowledge how cruel the world can be to young girls?

enter last hope 🎮✨

Jennifer's Body is one of the most misunderstood horror films to date.

Let's talk about it...

Jennifer's Body is one of the most quietly queer horror films of the 2000s, misunderstood as a movie about the consequences of societal misogyny. Needy and Jennifer's relationship was more than friendship - it was a story about obsession, codependency and jealousy.

The film was a box office flop in 2009 because nobody knew how to market a queer horror film about girlhood, jealousy and desire disguised as a teen slasher.

We're reclaiming Jennifer's Body as the queer horror classic it always was.
