Congratulations, Kayla and Lou! Home weddings are a lot more work than any couple anticipates, but when the home is this special, and the neighbors this supportive, it is worth the extra work! Of course, it also helps when one of those neighbors owns @loanebros and provides beautiful tents, linens, place settings, chairs, the backyard for the ceremony, and their adorable vintage car for photos!!! We loved being part of this event and getting to know this kind and energetic couple and family! And the food from Ekiben was amazing, too!!! Venue: the groom’s childhood home Photogrqphy (the good photos in this reel are from the photographer…the bad ones I took myself!!!): @dagfoto Rentals: @loanebros Catering: @ekibenbaltimore set-up and Day-of Coordinating: @setting_the_scene_decor Flowers: @fiftyflowers Centerpieces: the couple and their families made these lovely centerpieces!!! In 2018, a sold-out run of Cloud Nebula (f.k.a Afro Punk Ballet) as a live operatic performance @thepealebaltimore received rave reviews. @baltmag exalted the production: “Each of Patterson’s intonations are echoed and accentuated with gush worthy choral accompaniments...Their soaring arias describe the woeful destruction of the second sun and humanity’s imminent demise!” Image credit: @dagfoto Logo design: @nick_helton_art

This weekend, we had the privilege of hosting the National Thanksgiving Turkeys ahead of their official pardon by the President of the United States. This time-honored tradition signifies gratitude, community, and the start of the holiday season—values we hold dear at the Willard. This year’s turkeys, hatched in Northfield, Minnesota, and raised by John Zimmerman on his independent farm, have truly embraced their role as Very Important Poultry. From enjoying their luxurious accommodations to a little “peacocking” in our historic Peacock Alley, these globetrotting guests have brought joy and a touch of whimsy to our halls. We are deeply honored to play a part in this uniquely American tradition, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to the @natlturkeyfed for partnering with us over the years. Learn more via #linkinbio 📷: @dagfoto for @whitehousehistory #WillardDC #InterContinentalLife #IHG #TrueHospitality #WillardTraditions #NationalThanksgivingTurkeys #ThanksgivingTradition

What does Alice Waters, Red Hook, and a Peach have in common? Quite a lot, actually. This past weekend I was invited to Washington, DC to attend Alice Waters’ Food Climate Hope event to promote School Supported Agriculture. Alice Waters @alicelouisewaters founded Chez Panisse Restaurant @chezpanisse in the 1971 and has been a pioneer of the farm-to-table movement, but her real passion has been improving good food access for children in schools and teaching students how to grow food through her Edible Schoolyard Project @edibleschoolyard. Her dream is to provide a free sustainable school lunch for all students K through 12; to buy food directly from farmers and ranchers who take care of the land and their workers; and to teach students the value of nourishment, stewardship and community. To accomplish her dream, we need both policy change AND individual action. With the people and speakers in attendance, from the farmers and ranchers to lunch ladies and Former Vice President Al Gore and Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, I think this gathering captured the importance of both the people working for policy change and the on-the-ground individuals incredibly well.… Link in bio to read more.
