Had to stop by @charliejamesgallery to see “Cosecha” (“Harvest”), the new exhibition curated by Ever Velasquez. Bringing together 35 emerging and established artists, the show explores labor, immigration, resilience, and the strength that grows through community, offering thoughtful perspectives on the experiences of immigrant and working-class communities.

I was able to catch part of a gallery walkthrough, which was an unexpected bonus! Hearing the ideas and concepts behind the works made me appreciate the exhibition even more. The quality of the work is incredible and the range of subject matter is inspiring. There were so many standout works, congratulations to all involved.

If you’re in LA, definitely try to catch this one before it closes on August 29. A MUST SEE this summer.

Neo-Chicano: Recuerdos de Mi Familia offers a compelling visual dialogue between three artists charting new trajectories in Chicano/a/e and Latinx futurisms—one rooted in memory, the other in projection, both converging in the painted present.

The visual language of the show draws on the vibrant, electrified hues of the 1960s–1980s. Colors associated with rebellion, freedom, and anti-establishment movements—to reframe the traditional Chicano/a/e palette in contemporary terms.

The gallery is closed today Saturday June 14th in recognition of the National Day of Protest, we will reopen on Tuesday and resume our normal hours of operation Tues to Sat 11-5.

Next Saturday June 21st we will open Daniela García Hamilton’s solo exhibition Amanecer / Atardecer from 4-7pm in our 961 Chung King Road space.
