Last month I went to New York to photograph Hannah’s first NYFW as a designer where she absolutely killed it alongside the most incredibly talented @leahsteiner.art!! They opened @asiannyfw and pulled off the most gorgeous collection of wearable art, it was insane!!! 🧚

I couldn’t be more proud of my big sis. Witnessing your drive and passionate creativity over the past 10 years has made me a better artist and person, look how far you have come!!! I’m so grateful to know and love you Hannah ✨ You are magic. Thank you for letting me witness all these years, I can’t wait to see what is next for you 🪡

Leah’s Frida jacket story:
Frida was an artist who adored Frida Kahlo so much that her studio walls were covered in portraits of the iconic painter. Strangely, she looked almost exactly like her—same dark brows, same knowing gaze, even the same way of tilting her head when she painted. People often asked if she was trying to imitate her idol, but Frida would just smile and shake her head. Her own art was nothing like Kahlo’s; instead of pain and passion, she painted dreams—floating cities, glowing moons, and people made of starlight. It was as if two Frida’s existed in the world, one born of fire, and the other, of sky.

The gown was designed as part of an ongoing personal series- this piece specifically is about how my brain works/ neural pathways/ my brain’s love of associations & stimulation (more on this piece later).

Leah designed not only the jacket, but gave the woman’s face on the back of the jacket (styled backwards for the runway) a story- as she does with all of her jackets. This jacket’s name is Josephine. Check out slide 4 for this one’s story 🌟

Leah’s story for Josephine:
Josephine had strange, mismatched features that made people stare a moment too long before looking away. She knew she looked different, so she kept to herself—quiet, shy, and gentle as a breeze. Most never took the time to speak to her, missing the kindness that shone softly behind her awkward smile. But those who did were always surprised by the warmth in her words and the way her laughter made everything feel lighter. In her own quiet way, Josephine proved that beauty wasn’t about perfection—it was about the light that glowed from a good heart.
