✨ More highlights from my incredible event last month with @lgbtq_museum at @weeksvilleheritagecenter.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our photo project with @khalebbrooks — you will hear from us soon on how to get access to your photos. And thank you to @leandrojusten for most of the gorgeous event photos that you see above.

We laughed, we played, we ate, we listened to folks in our community talk about their queer archiving work, we danced, we rested. Thank you to everyone who participated and who made it possible for us all to gather together for such a special time.

“Direct action is, ultimately, the defiant insistence on acting as if one is already free.” — David Graeber ✨

we all were eagerly awaiting the delivery of our e-bike today on #juneteenth. it’s gonna be a game changer for sure — no more taking 30+ mins sometimes to go less than 2 miles down the way to take the girls to school, fooling with mta 🚌. no more deciding not to go out on adventures with the babies bc it feels like sooo much to get there. the investment in this bike is something we put off for a while until recently we said, no more of that. let’s do it. the girls picked the color 🎨 and now we’re here. #bennobikes #familyvehicle #dothething #commutebybike #dailycommute #babiesonbikes

the first slide is of my very first race, in 2014. it was a 5k race that i trained for by attending group runs at chelsea piers every week. i had a run coach and that distance was challenging to me at the time. i also had picked up running to get over a ❤️‍🩹

i’ve ran hundreds of miles since then and longer distances too. the rest of these slides are of my journey of running since that first race. of me joining community to train and stay disciplined with @bedstuyflyers. of me running in harlem hoping to see my dad on the route when he was around and doing well. of me running a father’s day half marathon to honor my dad. and of me taking selfies bc most of the times, i was alone at the finish lines of these races. of me finding the time to run even with having my two little ones.

then there’s the heavy medals 🥇 that i have become pretty focused on obtaining as many as possible.

there’s been a lot of healing, growth and introspection since then.

now, i run with more purpose. this may, i’m running a half marathon to honor my sister who passed in 2022. and to raise $500 for youth running programs with #teamforkids

click the link in my bio to donate — every dollar is appreciated

Since the day you arrived, you have challenged me to open my heart in a way that transcends fear and reignited a passion that I believed was forever lost in grief.

When I see you, I see me.

Happy Birthday my Wild ass Capricorn baby.

Thank you for choosing me to share this love and life with.
