I had three goals this past weekend. ✅ win my first time at IBJJF ✅ take my opponents back ✅ strangle my opponent with his own jacket ✅ mission accomplished Got it done in the first round. After that I didn’t care how the other matches went. It’s a good thing, because I got beat several time after this match 😂😂😂 Humble pie 🥧 is my favorite. Keeps ya grounded and training hard.

We had a great mixer with the @daisyfreshjiujitsu team visiting us and @gorgeousjorgev guest teaching class. We plan to make this a more regular thing. Next time we're planning on heading up there. We were also able to promote John, Sonja and Lucas tonight! Great night over all. We love getting the opportunity to cross train with them!

This weeks Jiu Jitsu Spotlight features the mighty @gorejosh - S5 This newly minted purple belt is a real problem for many people. I’ve been lucky enough to train with Josh on the mats from his very first day as a white belt. From the beginning, Josh has been great, using thoughtful technique paired with conditioning and tenacity, which makes him a great addition to any jiu jitsu community. He has a nasty darce and will catch you with it if you aren’t locked in. If he’s not going full out each round he’ll be the first one to help people. Showing other people techniques, trouble shooting, and just giving advice - a huge reason why jiu jitsu has one of the best communities. Not only does Josh crush it on the mats but he’s constantly serving others off the mats. Running @mccains_overhead_door , raising great kids, leading his family and hosting our home group - he’s always on the move. He’s a man of God, always trying to make things around him aim towards the kingdom. I’m blessed to call him a friend and look forward to your next belt promotion. You can find Josh up at @daisyfreshjiujitsu , open mats, and at all the @jesusandjiujitsu_usa just events. Go say hello, avoid those darces, and ask him for advice or a prayer - or both.
