Book: Good spirits by B.K Borison

As you can tell, I haven’t posted in a while, so I thought I’d finally post something. And what’s better than Good Spirits? This is also a repost, but we don’t speak of that lol.

Anyways, this was the best Christmas book I’ve ever read… more like the only one I’ve read. Either way, it was so cosy and cute. It gave me all the Christmas vibes, and I honestly might have to reread it during Christmas this year.

I genuinely loved Harriet and Nolan’s banter. They were so fun to read, and I loved how natural their conversations felt. I also really liked the writing style. It focused on small details, which made the whole book feel even more cosy and special.

I’m a big fan of grumpy x sunshine, so of course that made me enjoy this book even more. Nolan was the perfect grump, and honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a better one.

Overall, I really loved this book. I also buddy read it with @siaxreads at the time, and I remember enjoying the whole experience so much. Talking about the book, sharing little updates, and freaking out over things together made it even more fun. 🥹

Tropes:
• Ghost of Christmas Past
• Holiday theme
• Forced proximity
• Grumpy x sunshine
• Found family

Briar Lowell ♡ Alistair Caldwell

Book: The lies we steal by Monty Jay
Rating: 3 ✿
Thoughts:

I’m going to start off by saying this book genuinely gave me Corrupt vibes. It felt a lot like those bully romances and had the same kind of dynamics… which I’m not even going to name. If you know, you know 😭.

BUT… I think this may have been a little better than Corrupt. So if you liked Corrupt by Penelope Douglas, you’ll probably enjoy this one too.

I actually liked reading Briar’s character. She was different, and I don’t think I’ve ever read a book where the girl knows how to steal, so that was pretty cool lol. I liked that part of her character and thought it made her interesting.

Now Alistair… I really didn’t like him. There was genuinely nothing likeable about him for me. He was just a complete asshole. And honestly, he didn’t even feel sexy or hot to me. I know he was supposed to have that whole “bad guy” thing going on, but it just didn’t work for me.

I also felt like there wasn’t really much romance between them. It felt more like pure lust most of the time, and that’s something I don’t really enjoy. I prefer when there’s actual romance and emotional connection, not just attraction.

That being said, I was still able to finish the book, so that has to mean something, right? It was definitely readable, and I never felt like I had to force myself to get through it.

Overall, it was an okay read for me. I enjoyed some parts, but the romance and Alistair just didn’t really work for me.

Fate Skating by Lynn Painter

Rating: ☆☆☆☆☆/5
Tropes: fake dating, second chance, sports romance, childhood best friends

Review:
This book was fast paced and if you’re looking for the book to get you out of a reading slump this is it. Alec and Dani’s banter, well I was obsessed, and the whole time I was smiling. It was so cute. I want to talk about Dani Collins because I love the anxiety representation in this book and it’s so well written. And then Alec, just the best, he was the sweetest ever, I mean in the beginning of the book he kind of pissed me off but I ended up loving him.

there are books that taught us a valuable lesson, that has positively impacted our lives, or hasn’t left our minds since finishing it. i wanted to include books outside of my scope, so i reached out to some of my friends and they provided with amazing reads! (and ofc had to include spiderman bnd at the end give the song choice)

i find it so beautiful how we all have a book that is dear to us. maybe a book you love with your entire heart will become someone’s new favorite :) 💌

Book: Till summer do us part by Meghan Quinn

Okay... this book had me laughing way more than I expected. I went into it thinking it would just be a cute summer romance, but I was actually laughing out loud so many times. The humour was so well done, and the banter made it even better. If you’re looking for a book that will genuinely make you laugh, this is definitely one to pick up.

It was such a light, fun, and easy read with the perfect summer vibes. The adult summer camp setting was so different, and I honestly loved how it was done. It made the whole story even more entertaining.

Wilder definitely surprised me. I’m not going to lie, the lip ring gave me the biggest ick at first. kept picturing an emo TikTok boy, and I was struggling. Thankfully, I got over it pretty quickly because he turned out to be such a sweetheart. He was so caring, always hyping Scottie up, and the way he supported and praised her was honestly really sweet.

Overall, I had such a fun time reading this. It had everything I wanted in a summer romance. Great characters, hilarious banter, plenty of spice, and a fun camp setting. If you’re looking for the perfect summer read that will make you laugh just as much as it makes you smile, I’d definitely recommend this one.

Tropes:
•Fake marriage
•Forced proximity
•Funny as hell
•Marriage counselling
•Adult summer camp

Brody Saunders ♡ Hannah Everett

Book: Sin Bin
Rating: 4 ✿
Author: @authorchelseacurto
Thoughts:

Brody Saunders is a single dad to a 13-year-old who dreams of becoming a figure skater. He’s also the grumpy, menacing, two-Stanley-Cup-winning head coach of the DC Stars.

Hannah Everett is vibrant, joyful, and a world champion figure skater. But when she realizes she’s burnt out from the sport she’s spent her whole life on, she knows she needs help to reconnect with herself and her love for skating.

──── 𝜗𝜚

I absolutely devoured this book. Every book in this series has been amazing, and Hannah and Brody’s story was no exception. I had so much fun reading it! Their chemistry is electric, the tension, the banter, the flirting, I was literally giggling the whole time.

I loved the small touches that made the world feel alive: Brody stepping into the group chat, his quiet moments with the players, and the way he balances being a coach and a dad.

If you love grumpy x sunshine, one-night stands, single dad tropes, friends-to-lovers, or forbidden romance, this book is for you. I totally recommend it!

Riley Mitchell ♡ Lexi Armstrong

Book: Hat trick
Rating: 3 ✿
Author: @authorchelseacurto
Thoughts:

This book was sweet, with plenty of spice and some genuinely heartfelt moments. That said, the pacing felt a bit slow at times, and halfway through, I found myself losing some momentum, even though I really wanted to love it more than I did.

I also missed seeing more of Lexi with her friends and the found-family dynamic that made the other books in the series so special. That element really adds a lot of heart, and I wish it had been stronger here.

Chelsea Curto did a wonderful job with Riley’s story — the research and sensitivity really came through, and I loved seeing Lexi’s dedication and passion for helping him.

If you enjoy ice hockey romances, hockey player x trainer dynamics, friends-with-benefits setups, or injury rehab arcs, this is worth picking up. I liked it, but for me, it didn’t quite reach the level of the other books in the series.

Aaron Blackford ♡ Catalina Martin

Book: The spanish love deception
Rating: 3 ✿
Author: @thebibliotheque
Thoughts:
All I’m going to say is... I went into this book with really high hopes (thank you, TikTok). And while I didn’t completely fall in love with it, I still had a good time reading it.

If you want a book with sunshiney summer vibes, this is definitely it. It’s light, funny, romantic, and of course... Aaron Blackford makes it worth the read.

The slow burn was so good - I’m such a sucker for it - though at times it felt like it took a little long to get there. Still, the payoff was worth it, and the spice was definitely a highlight.

Not every part worked perfectly for me, but overall it was a fun, cozy rom-com. And even though rom-coms aren’t usually my favorite, I’m still glad I finally picked this one up.

Hudson Hayes ♡ Madeline Galloway

Book: Slap Shot
Rating: 4 ✿
Author: @authorchelseacurto
Thoughts:
I loved this book so, so much. Omg. Every book in the DC Stars series has been great, but this one? This one had my heart completely. It had one of my favorite tropes — a single mom romance — and it was done so perfectly. I don’t even know why I love that trope so much, but this book gave me exactly what I wanted.

And Hudson? Oh my god. Hudson in this book? Perfect. He’s the literal definition of a golden boy. Kind, patient, thoughtful — the kind of MMC that makes you melt a little.

If you’re into found family, a soft kind of slow burn, single mom romances, or a hockey player x private chef pairing, then you’re going to love this book just as much as I did.

This book completely stole my heart. It was wholesome, emotional, and so full of warmth. The characters were unique and loveable, the character development was beautiful done, and the found family aspect? Absolutely perfect. If you know me, i absolutely love a found family trope.

This has to be one of my all-time favorite single parent romances. When I first read it, it felt like such a treat — sweet, heartwarming, and just so adorable. I fell in love with it instantly.
