{ RG2 Client News } An Evening with Venezia ✨

Last month we brought together @armadilloandco and @cabanamagazine at the Armadillo Showroom in New York to celebrate the debut of Venezia, Armadillo’s first pure silk rug collection, alongside the launch of Cabana’s September 2026 issue.

Inspired by the way Italian painters once rendered fabric, Venezia explores the light, depth and nuanced hues of 100% silk. The evening was hosted in partnership with @housetowrite Camilla Frances, Digital Director of Cabana, and guests were among the first to take home the September issue along with Cabana’s weekend in Italy guide.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a night of Italian artistry, interiors and craft in NYC.

A levitating sculpture by artist Kiki Smith is one of many eye-catching vignettes in David Lucido’s (@dalucido) expertly curated Clinton Hill townhouse project. Lucido’s skill with color and his willingness to take risks are exemplified beautifully here—just look at that fireplace or the tapestry headboard. Stick around to see the home’s sumptuous outdoor garden (a rarity in urban New York) and a piece by Oren Pinhassi. Tap the link in bio to see the full project on 1stDibs.

Your bar cart called—it wants to be taken seriously. There's something irresistible about a space designed for slowing down, sipping, and savoring the moment. And these ten bars, some of which you may be able to visit IRL, indulge our most delicious desires.

What first caught my attention here was the light. The room feels incredibly bright, but not stark.

I think a lot of that comes from the wall colour. With this amount of classical detailing, a sharper white could have made every line feel much more pronounced. Instead, the softer off-white lets the mouldings, arches and proportions read quietly.

I also love how little furniture is actually needed. The architecture is already doing so much that the large travertine table can sit almost alone in the centre of the room. Its scale is important — something smaller would probably feel lost against the height and repetition of the three openings.

And then there is the symmetry. Everything feels very controlled, but the chandelier and flowers stop it from becoming too formal.

Something I’m taking from this: a highly detailed classical space doesn’t necessarily need more decoration. Sometimes light, proportion and one strong object are enough.

This is probably the room I wanted to understand the most.

I love the composition, but when I look at the individual pieces separately, they don’t immediately seem like an obvious combination. There is a red Italian sofa, a blue Togo, a soft white sheepskin chair, a marble table, a black grand piano and contemporary art — all sitting inside very classical architecture.

So why doesn’t it feel chaotic?

I think the answer is partly that the room itself is incredibly controlled. The walls, carpet and architectural detailing are almost one continuous pale background. The colour is concentrated in a few objects rather than spread throughout the room.

There is also no attempt to make the furniture imitate the architecture. The furniture is lower, softer and much more informal. That contrast actually makes both layers more noticeable.

What do these rooms have in common?

I keep saving interiors that feel incredibly romantic to me, but I couldn’t quite put my finger on why.

Dusty, muddied colours like oxblood, burgundy, rose, tobacco, mauve, olive and blush. Decorative details against cleaner architecture. Floral glass, patterned rugs, expressive art and flowers. Curved and sculptural furniture. Velvet against chrome, lacquer and glass. And a slightly 1930s–70s influence without anything feeling obviously retro.

But I think it’s more than the individual interior design details. These rooms have personality. They feel collected, a little strange and quite sensual rather than perfectly coordinated.

Maybe that’s what makes an interior feel romantic.
