julyaugustseptemberoctober dump + a lil debrief 🫶🏻

It’s been a tough few months but I’d love to be open about it in hopes it can help someone 🤞🏻

I’ve had migraines for years but in the past few months they escalated to a different level, from 1-2 a month to 1-2 a week, to daily, coming to a head with 16 migraine days in a row (would not recommend!)

I felt like I faded into a shell of myself and felt so numb and defeated. At the beginning of September I found a phenomenal neurologist (dm me if you’re looking for one in CT/NY). And after trialing a few medications, I eventually decided to start a preventative. I was SUPER reluctant and wanted to try everything else first but ultimately it was clear that a preventive was the right choice.

I took my first pill Wednesday and haven’t had a migraine since, which feels nothing less than miraculous. I feel like I’m BACK and the lights are back on. I’m truly so excited to just LIVE my life! I want to go on dates with my husband, go to the gym, go to pilates, hang out with friends!!

I’ve learned a lot about migraines these past few months. It often gets reduced to a “really bad headache” but it is a neurological disorder in the same class as epilepsy. And honestly the fatigue and brain fog was way more debilitating than the pain. We don’t blame someone for having a seizure, but when it comes to migraine it’s so easy to blame ourselves. Trust me, I tried everything you can imagine to manage every imaginable trigger on my own. Another thing I’ve really learned for myself is just because you’ve normalized something (like suffering every day) does NOT make it normal. A few months is such a small taste of what some people go through for years managing chronic conditions, and if you are in that boat, whether its chronic migraine or something else, my heart really breaks for you and I’m sending you so much love. 🫂

If you made it this far, thank you for caring 🥹

LETS HAVE A GREAT WEEK and get back to LIFEEE!!!!

I am just lovinggg february so far 🖤

I have found my groove!!! I feel like I’ve found the perfect balance between lifting, Pilates, and running. I’m feeling more athletic than I’ve ever felt in my life which is super empowering. This running journey has definitely helped me to lock in on sleep and nutrition and I feel so powerful!

I can’t believe the progress in my pace of my long runs! I’ve just been going off of feel and not worried about pace.

As women especially, we are so often reduced to how things look, and it is SO important to have a goal for something your body can DO. 🫶🏻

little joys from January 🤍

tbh I am relieved January is over!! the flu+migraines took me out for a couple of weeks, and I feel like I’m just starting to find my feet again and feel like myself now that I’m back to my routine.

a huge highlight was bestie time and watching Rue bond with @buildingbricoaching 🩷

also a lil running update 🏃🏻‍♀️ I’m one month into my running journey now and I got 21.6 miles under my belt in January! To go from never having run a mile start to finish, to running 5 miles without stopping on Saturday was a big win. Don’t get me wrong it was hard. I can’t yet say “I love running” but I definitely appreciate the challenge, and I’m committed to this journey of getting to that half marathon in April. It feels good to challenge my mind and body and chase after a goal that feels impossible now, knowing I’ll get there.

what are you looking forward to in February?!
