‘Miss Rose - Rose McGowan’ “We did it this way simply because we are both chatterboxes and go way off the point when we get going. And she’s in LA and I’m here in London. There are a lot of fickle people in Hollywood, land of the fantasy, but Rose is certainly one of the most unique, honest women I know. Photographing someone who you know very well could be a nightmare, but luckily for both of us, it was a very peaceful day. I really wanted to show a side of Rose that to me is the essence of her. It’s not a side that is really seen publicly. She has a very talked about persona, largely due to the fact that she’s played women who seemingly have rather dark psyches, and perhaps also due to her strength of character. Anyway, the woman is a natural beauty who should definitely be in some big make-up campaign. Last night at The Hole we recreated the runway reversal show I made on September 9th, 2001. This time nobody watched. Everyone walked. Upcycling works on ideas too, not only on clothes, when the idea still matters. And it matters more now than it did then. I believe in inclusivity. I believe in celebrating community and expanding it. I believe in having fun, and for me right now especially .. participatory art is the highest form of expression I know. Thank you to The Hole Gallery , Mode PR , Grace Phipps, Ruby McCollister, Ed Teller, Lily Teiger, Greg Harrison, Ivan Lee Mora, and everyone at The Hole And thank you to every person who came out, put something on, walked, laughed and got it. I want to add every human who helped me and danced and laughed and showed up for me’s insta on here so please help me and add yours below so I can include it ! This is participatory art continuing ! I have to post so much more and still working hard !!

Hello friends, Excited to share this short piece that includes the experimental Lungfish film, made using footage I had shot in 1998 at Brownies NYC (!) along with quotes about the band from Joan Jett, Jem Cohen, Robert Ryan, and more. Link in bio I hope it offers a small glimpse into the live experience of Lungfish during that time, mantric and somewhat motionless, yet paralyzing and hypnotic, a musical high that you have hopefully felt at some point.
