The “300 years of fake history” claim is a conspiracy theory, not a historical discovery.

It is usually a variation of the Phantom Time Hypothesis, proposed by Heribert Illig in 1991. The theory argues that about 297 years (AD 614–911) were never real, and that medieval rulers and the Church supposedly invented them.

Supporters point to things like:

* A perceived lack of archaeological evidence from that period.
* Claims that medieval calendars don’t line up.
* Alleged inconsistencies in historical records.
* Architectural styles they believe appear to “jump” ahead.

However, historians, archaeologists, astronomers, and other researchers reject the theory because there is overwhelming evidence that those centuries actually happened.

Some of that evidence includes:

* Astronomy: Records of eclipses and comets from Europe, China, the Middle East, and elsewhere match modern calculations exactly. If 300 years had been invented, these events would be out of sync.
* Independent civilizations: Chinese, Byzantine, Islamic, and other historical records all describe events during the same period. A conspiracy would have required many unrelated cultures to fabricate identical timelines.
* Archaeology: Thousands of coins, buildings, graves, manuscripts, and artifacts can be dated to those centuries using multiple methods.
* Tree rings and ice cores: Natural records show continuous yearly growth and climate patterns with no missing centuries.

Why do people think it was “discovered”?

Videos and social media posts often present it as if someone recently uncovered hidden evidence. In reality:

* The idea has been publicly known since the early 1990s.
* No new evidence has convinced mainstream historians.
* It remains a fringe hypothesis because it doesn’t fit the available evidence.

So, the claim that 300 years of history were faked has not been discovered or proven. It is an interesting thought experiment, but the evidence strongly supports the conventional historical timeline.
