A month ago, I had the pleasure of being introduced to a very special young athlete who needed some private training to help prepare for JO’s in the combined events. I came highly recommended from a mutual friend due to my work with Meagan. The young athlete was Beth Nwachukwu, who just finished the sixth grade and needed help with the hurdles and high jump. My good friend and first mentor in the sport, Coach Damien Leake, had coached her to a nation-leading long jump mark in her age group of 18-0. That’s amazing for a 12 year old. She needed help with me mainly for the high jump. She was averaging about 4-7 in the HJ by scissor kicking. In 3.5 weeks she went from that to doing the Fosbury flop and looking like a proper high jumper. We only had two hurdle practices because she really wanted to focus on HJ. I’m happy to say that she earned PR’s in both events and I’m especially proud to say that she earned a nation-leading mark of 5-1 in the HJ (twice!) since we started working together. She would later go onto win the Girls 11-12 USATF JO’s National Championship in the pentathlon earning a score of 3,187 points. She Had I met her a little sooner and been able to help her with some of her other training outside of LJ, I think she may have been able to challenge the national record of 3,412. She also became the HJ and LJ national champion in the 11-12 age group! Very proud of this young lady and, college coaches, she is definitely someone to keep an eye on. @track.star_beth

TUNA ON RYE (2026) back in october, i was feeling frustrated and discouraged by the slow pace the film industry was moving at. casting on my feature had slowed and i was unsure if i would be able to raise enough money to get @thetalkingcatmovie off the ground. so i decided to just go for it and make something much more intimate on a near-$0 budget. in just 2 months, i assembled an incredible cast and crew to create something special. we just finished post-production on TUNA ON RYE and I couldn’t be prouder. there’s exciting news to come soon, but first I want to thank the people who poured their talent, time, and energy into this passion project. @njkling for sharing this beautiful script with me 10 years ago. one of the most breathtaking pieces of writing I’ve ever read, all in just 5 pages. @jemberjembs for being my day 1—as a classmate, friend, and colleague—and for introducing me to the incredibly talented @officialnancylinari & @damienleake. working with them on this challenging material was a privilege. @rhi.mt for producing this project remotely and keeping everything moving forward, and @davidarnold_film for handling the countless fires that come with production in LA. @paddymoynahan for being an amazing collaborator and bringing on @drk.hso and @shotbymatthew, whose expertise elevated every frame. @anusha.halwai, a phenomenal 1st AD and the start of what i know will be a lasting friendship. Someone wise once told me, "Sweat in prep so you don't bleed during the shoot." Wanted to treat everyone to Mr. Starzec standing in for number 1 and 2 on our scout. And to show how a little lighting, a nice camera, and a great cast can make it all come together to look like a big-time Hollywood movie. Prep for this movie started with Richie over a sandwich at Phillipe’s. Later came to include a handful of scout days, lighting diagrams, and research. Coming from the camera side of the movie world lighting has always been harder for me to grasp. I've been lucky enough to be on set with incredible DP's that through osmosis and a little bit of paying attention - I'm figuring out how to make things look nice. #cinematographer #directorofphotography #narrativefilm #Filmmaking #losangeles
