Welcome, Main Street Maryland Conference attendees! While you’re exploring downtown over the next few days, be sure to look up, look around and take in some of the incredible public art that has helped transform our city into a colorful, creative destination. From towering murals and colorful alleyways to pieces celebrating Hagerstown’s history, culture and community, there’s plenty to discover—all within walking distance of the conference! Several of our newest murals were even created as part of the 2026 @national_mural_awards hosted right here in Hagerstown. 📍Use these photos as your mini public art guide and see how many you can find while you’re downtown! Grab a coffee, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, explore our shops and take the scenic route between conference sessions. And when you find a favorite piece, snap a photo and tag us—we’d love to see #downtownhagerstown through your eyes! Welcome to Hagerstown. We hope you leave inspired!❤️🎨 #hagerstown #mural #publicart #mainstreet

Worcester is updating its Cultural Plan, and if you care about Downtown’s creative future, now is the time to speak up. Take the @cityofworcester’s Cultural Plan Survey now to share your perspective. It takes just 10 minutes. (Link in bio.) Downtown is one of Worcester’s essential cultural hubs. It’s home to the Theatre District and @thehanovertheatre, the @jmacworcester PopUp and BrickBox Theater, @artsworcester, @technocopia, plus public art ranging from large-scale murals and sculptures to artist-designed utility boxes, and a wall-to-wall calendar of festivals, exhibitions, and performances. Just beyond the BID boundaries, @mechanicshall, the @dcucenter, @worcesterpalladium, and @offtherailsworcester make the ecosystem even richer. The City’s current Cultural Plan, adopted in 2019, set priorities that still matter to Downtown Worcester: affordable housing and artist live-work spaces, creative use of vacant storefronts, more public art, and more programming in public spaces. But Downtown’s needs and opportunities look different today, and this is a chance to say clearly what we want next. To us, that means: • A more visible, connected arts and theatre district
• Artists who can afford to live, create, exhibit, and open businesses Downtown
• More public art and cultural programming
• A Downtown where Worcester’s creative community can build sustainable careers If you believe Downtown should be a priority for future arts and cultural investment, we hope you’ll tell the City of Worcester in your responses. Please take the survey today. _________ Featured in this post: the Marka27 mural on the Federal Plaza Garage; The Hanover Theatre; the JMAC’s neon sign; the Damien Mitchell mural on Portland Street; the “Esther Howland Bench” by artist Gianna Stewart outside City Hall; the “You Belong Here” art and lighting installation by artist Sharinna Travieso at the Worcester Public Library; and the Burnside Fountain (aka Turtle Boy) at Franklin and Church Streets. 📷 (1, 3, 6) Josh Wingell; (2 & 7) Michael Hendrickson; (5) Troy B. What a wonderful way to kick off the Fall Season at CMDE! From all of us at CMDE, thank you to everyone who joined us on September 19 to celebrate National Dance Day! We loved seeing our community come together to enjoy the outdoor performances by Hackensack Moves! Dance Company, participate in class demonstrations, move to the music, and celebrate the joy of dance. A very special shout-out to Aubrey Flanagan and Barbara Bickart, representing the NJEDA A.R.T. Phase II funding, which has helped make it possible for CMDE to create and present meaningful, unique, and inspiring work throughout the year—including our amazing new wall murals by artist Damien Mitchell. We are so grateful for your support of the arts and our community! And now… the Fall Semester at CMDE is officially OPEN! 🎉 New classes, new opportunities, new movement—and plenty of reasons to keep dancing. We can’t wait to see you in the studio! Thank you for moving with us! New Jersey Economic Development Authority coLAB Arts #HackensackMoves #DanceForEveryone #DanceCommunity #NJEDA #hackensacknj
