(119/365) - Part One; the 3801 🚂

Today we attended the 35th Anniversary of 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭 to celebrate Maitland’s steam and industrial heritage. A ride on-board of my favourite childhood steam locomotive, the 3801 made this day complete.

Built in 1943 by Clyde Engineering, the 3801 has been in preservation since its retirement from the NSW Railways in 1962 and is arguably Australia’s most famous steam locomotive, being the only one to have visited all mainland states and territories.

My love for trains began back in 1990, going to the tracks, seeing the steam, the sheer metal moving was a favourite time of my life. This love was instilled and encouraged by my Grandfather and Father. Visiting the tracks and experiencing the trains today is something I love so much and that has become a tradition for me as the kid and the future me as an adult for my kids.

A must visit if you’re wanting to view an 𝘈𝘔𝘈𝘡𝘐𝘕𝘎 waterfall. The lookout doesn’t do it justice so take the kilometre track to the base to truly experience Rawson Falls. It’s a fairly easy walk which will take no more than 2 hours return trip.

While you’re in the area stop in at @theuddercowcafe in Comboyne, for a beautiful home cooked meal!

If you told a younger version of myself that I’d be driving behind the wheel of my dream car, I’d tell them “you’re dreaming”. But that day finally came and I couldn’t be more smitten nor blessed.

To even think the morning of purchasing Beau we had no intentions of buying a car would shock most but we went out to buy some almond croissants. We decided to stop in at @NorthShoreBMW and there he was. It was meant to be. A week later we picked him up.
