Sending a big warm thank you to everyone who’s ordered We Keep Swimming so far. This work explores the energy of that connection, alongside Guyette’s ever evolving spiritual curiosity. Featuring an essay by acclaimed Fine Art photographer @elinorcarucci , and poems by New York Times bestselling author @katejbaer, this work offers an intimate yet expansive and collaborative exploration of lineage and belonging.

Exciting news!! I’m thrilled to share that my book, Girlhood: Lost and Found, has received a bronze in the Prix de la Photographie Paris (Px3) 2025 Paris Photo Awards! This work is deeply personal, and the making of the book was an incredible labor of love, so it really means everything to have it be recognized in this way. The work will also be included in an on screen presentation at the annual Px3 exhibition in Paris in November, so friends in France, be on the lookout!

So much gratitude to everyone at @px3 ! And thank you to the Daylight team for bringing this book to life, especially @dammsavage for all your design love and care.

We are bombarded with toxic messaging from the beauty industry on the daily. Being the face (or body) selling these false truths in the past was something I always felt very conflicted about. As I mined old magazine tears from that part of my life to be rephotographed and included in Girlhood: Lost and Found, my focus quickly shifted from my own image to the text in the articles that went along with my picture. I was filled with disgust at the pollution we consume on a regular basis, and anger at why we internalize and accept it as truth. This birthed the desire to create the mini-magazine insert you will discover in the book: a remixed and condensed version of the poison are we force-fed by the media, featuring yours truly. It can be found between the pages where this snake image lives due to the snake’s historic connections to themes of deception, seduction, and temptation (🍎). It also functions well as a threatening visual metaphor for the constant stream of venom that enters our systems. But most importantly, the insert was placed with that photo because as snakes shed their skin, they serve as the ultimate symbol of rebirth, transformation, and healing.

My current favorite/most infuriating example of the ☠️mini-mag pages I’ve included in this post is the second slide. Because you see, this “unfortunate woman of a certain age” often does in fact dress like the teenage daughter I now have all these years later (please swipe for context), but to be clear, the TEEN is the one stealing MY clothes. Also, dear newspaper writer, if you believe you have the right to tell older women to “dress their age” (🤢),how about AT LEAST showing the clothes you deem appropriate being modeled by a woman of actual said age, not someone in her 20’s! 🤯 Moral of the story ladies: do you, wear whatever the hell makes you feel good, and definitely don’t believe everything that you see!

Better late than never…what can I say, a girl’s been busy! ☺️ But I’ve finally had a chance to go through all the great photos from the book launch party taken by @_jhrphotography (thank you Jonatan, I love them!) and I have to take a moment to honor this occasion and everyone who came out to celebrate the release of Girlhood: Lost and Found. I haven’t had a time of such wildly big and mixed emotions since having my children; the last two months have been an emotionally charged time of expansion filled with excitement, fear, pride, anxiety, exhaustion, exhilaration, nerves, and immense gratitude. To feel such beautiful support of myself and this work from family, friends, and the NYC photo community, not only on this night, but also with every book order, or message of kindness I’ve been sent during this important time in my life, will be held with deep gratitude forever in my heart. It has lifted me up more than you can know, and I can only hope to return the love and positivity back to all of you out there some how some way. 🙏🤍💞🖤💫 Of course, an extra special shout out once again must go to the amazing @daylightbooks team for making my longtime dream of publishing a photo book a reality, and for so beautifully bringing this baby into the world.
