Mike, here. I want to take a moment to shout out @damnationaudio for making truly top-notch gear and standing by it. Damnation pedals sound great, have common-sense features and controls, and are built to last. Whenever I have questions about my pedals, even dumb ones, Jeff answers them. Damnation pedals stand out because I can dial them in to meet the weird demands of this band, but also sound great in wildly different bass applications. I'm also confident that these pedals will withstand the rigors of DIY gigging, and that Jeff will have my back if anything ever goes wrong. I have been using Damnation pedals for as long as I can remember.

If you are a bassist and you're looking for drive/distortion/fuzz that meet you where you're at, Damnation has what you need.

Finally getting a chance to mess with this distortion pedal from @damnationaudio and ooooof, it just punched me in the face. But in a good way of course. Literally these are what I just set the knobs to and haven’t even tweaked them yet. It’s low, it’s mean, it’s dirty, it’s gnarly and it’s a lot of fun. This video doesn’t do it justice at all. It’s pretty rad. And it will be a nice addition next to my MXR M80. Enough talk, time to play in the dirt some more!! LET’S GO!!!

I love dirty bass tones and I just about always have some sort of dirt on my tones. And like most players you’re always, in some way, actively or not, looking for that next thing. Welp, thanks to @riffblastergeneral for posting about this pedal not too long ago and having one of raddest bass tones I’ve heard, I’m excited to give this bass distortion by @damnationaudio a go! Everything I’ve seen and heard about this pedal is sick! Let’s get dirty!!

The 919 Pedal Party. Where to begin…?
After months and months of planning with Matthew from @alexanderpedals and @disasterareadesigns , our first annual pedal event exceeded our expectations. We know musicians in North Carolina like effects pedals. But NC musicians showed up in a big way last Saturday. And we can’t thank you enough. Y’all confirmed our suspicions that this would be a cool thing to do.

Yesterday I showed you how the Bass Amp Grinder @damnationaudio sounds with guitar through the new @sunn_amps Beta Mini. Today we’re having a look on how this setup sounds with bass.
I need to point out that the beta mini is NOT specifically designed for bass and tbh I really am not super hyped with the bass sounds of the amp especially with other pedals. I don’t say it’s bad, it’s just not the one I would go after. However, you guys asked for it - so I serve. I will 100% take the bass amp grinder for other demos with my quilter bass amp just to have a fair comparison out there.

Heaviness. All the freakin way.

I asked in my stories and y’all wanted to hear this combo of the @damnationaudio Bass Amp Grinder going into the @sunn_amps Beta Mini - so here we are.

The @damnationaudio Bass Amp Grinder quickly became m fav non-proco rat because it not just sounds like a good of should, it also brings some clean heaviness to the table. Who does NOT want that?!
For my demos I am always looking for a nice, warm kinda crunchy tone from an amp and since the og beta lead always did me well, I was trying to find a fitting setting with this amp too. To be fair: it wasn’t super intuitive but once you sit down and study its behavior you’ll get there eventually.

Tomorrow I’ll post a demo of the same setup but with bass. Watch out for that if you’re consider yourself a low-end-warrior

This is made for everyone and here’s why

You might’ve noticed my addiction to rat-style pedals. If not, now you know. This Bass Amp Grinder @damnationaudio somehow still cought me off guard. Of course I knew what this is based on, BUT it rarely happens a pedal delivers equally good on guitars and bass. On guitar I feel it nails the OG rat tones (it also happens rarely that I admit it) but on Bass this pedals brings out some extra sorcery which I absolutely love. Besides the common rat controls (volume, filter, distortion) it comes along with a toggle switch to go from classic mid forward rat mode (labeled as II) to a modern take of this circuit (labeled as I). For guitar I clearly prefer mode II…simply because NOTHING BEATS A GOOD RAT, but for bass this toggle really makes a difference when it comes to your overall mix.
And then there’s even more: the clean knob is not a simple clean blend control. It lets through your distorted signal but it adds clean lowend when cranking it up. I feel that every single bass pedal based on a fuzz/distortion pedal should have this feature on board. It’s bonkers.
