I am because you are. Everyone who said it was impossible, did not understand that I'm possible.
I'm possible because the ancestors who walk with me had already transcended every impossibility placed before them.

Day 1 of Black Lit Weekend 2026 is complete! Let’s unpack:

- After breakfast, registration, and introductions, the group boarded a bus to tour New Orleans

- All Bout Dat Tours took us on The Black Heritage Tour of New Orleans and it was excellent. Mikhala took us on a journey we will never forget!

- We took a walk down Bayou Road, a street filled with Black Owned businesses including Roots cafe and Community Book Center. Ms Vera saved us from the rain and welcomed us into her safe space filled with Black books & goods.

- After lunch we visited Baldwin & Co bookstore where DJ hosted a tour of his incredible, multi-faceted space.

- Last but not least, Onikah joined Kenneth Chennault on stage at Baldwin & Co. for a fireside chat about leadership, entrepreneurship, and supporting Black spaces.

Our Opening Dinner was hosted by Scholastic and was the perfect sample of New Orleans cuisine!

Day 1 was a true 10/10, we’re so excited for Day 2!

Even a year later, we're still carrying what we learned from our Greenwood Experience at the 2025 Midcon VC Summit.

We were guided through the heart of Tulsa's Historic Greenwood District by three storytellers who live and lead within it: Onikah Asamoa-Caesar of Fulton Street Books & Coffee, Phil Armstrong of the Oklahoma Center for Community & Justice, and Kode Ransom of Greenwood Griot Tours.

If you don't know the history: the Greenwood District built one of the most prosperous Black economic communities in America. In 1921, it was devastated in one of the deadliest acts of racial violence in U.S. history and in the 1960s, urban renewal displaced what remained.

And still, Greenwood continues to stand as a thriving hub of Black entrepreneurship, innovation, and prosperity. Its legacy is not just history we honor, it is a standard we hold ourselves to this day.

This Juneteenth, learn more, connect with, and support the Greenwood District below:

As promised, I’m coming back with more holiday game ideas! 🥰

The other game we played at my Christmas Girls Night Pajama Party was The Holiday Karaoke Remix! 🎤 Each group drew a traditional Christmas song and a 2000’s classic that they had to remix into a new hit song. 😆 A winner was chosen but I want to hear from you so we can determine crowd favorite. Who would you pick? 👀

1️⃣ Silent Night x Locked Up by Akon

2️⃣ All I Want For Christmas is You x Waterfalls by TLC

3️⃣ Santa Claus is Coming to Town x Work It by Missy Elliot

4️⃣ Let it Snow x Regulate by Warren G & Nate Dogg

Drop your vote in the comments! 🗳️

I always love a good craft, so this game was all about creativity and a little holiday magic!✨ I came up with Dollar Tree to Luxury back in 2023, and had to bring it back for this year’s Christmas Girls Night & Pajama Birthday Party.

Here’s how it works: each group gets a bag of Dollar Tree holiday items and one wreath. They have 15 minutes to transform it into a luxury holiday masterpiece. The competition was intense and fabulous! 😆🎄The judges had a tough job.

You think you would try this with your crew this holiday season?

Big thanks to @itsjus_joy of @reel_paparazzi for capturing all the highlights of the evening! If you’re hosting something special, do yourself a favor and book her. 😚
