In hall 7 of the Intermodellbau 2026 I discovered this fantastic jewel. It is a modular H0 gauge layout called Lauterthalbahn 1924 and was presented by a group of enthusiasts coming from Biblis in Germany. The builder is Sebastian Litters who created even more modules but was not able to present them all on the fair. The layout represents an authentic country railway line in the year 1924, yet with a couple of fictional elements like the stone mining facility. The model work is absolutely great, fantastic to say. I have really seldomly seen a more skilful created layout in that scale.

Many of you know that I like the models by Weinert Modellbau They come with unique details and absolutely convincing operating properties, simply because they are completely made of diecast metal. Equipped with a sound Decoder and a Faulhaber engine, they run very smoothly and authentically slow. Though I have two or three class V36 diesel locomotives in DB delivery already, I couldn’t resist to buy this pre-owned one here, offered by a friend of mine. Many different trains are passing by the large industry area and are disappearing into a short tunnel on the fantastic Marklin H0 layout, built by enthusiasts of the MBF-Maifeld model railway club. Today, a heavy ore train needs two class 44 steamers.

At the MODELLBAHN TOTAL in Lohmar, Germany, I discovered this pretty little gem here. Alex a member from the ECRS enthusiasts in Siegburg created this wonderful layout in H0, 1:87. It shows the dreamy little town Huxtebude, with its ancient houses, a little station and the quai. On a railway line diesel locos and railbuses are transporting goods and people through a typical North German landscape with so many wonderful authentic details. ——

Here comes my latest new entry, a Weinert Model of the German class 01.10 express train loco with old boiler. The 3 cylinder class 01.10 was a prestiguous pre war development with a streamline shell. All machines which survived WW2 found themselves in the West German zones. Very soon, the streamline shell was removed and the locos were restored for active service. They were to be the backbone of the heavy express train traffic on non electrified routes until the mid 70ies. The 01 1091 is well documented by historical photos. The technical state of the model reflects the state of the 01 1091 in the very early fifties of the last century. The loco belonged then to the depot Hagen-Eckesey, ED Wuppertal. Basis for this model was a Weinert metal kit with Faulhaber engine , D&H digital sound decoder and LED lighted front and rear lanterns. Hope you like it! This amazing diorama of a steel smeltery was presented during the Faszination Modellbau 2025 by Faller from Gütenbach, Germany. It provides a lot of realistic and authentic details around the steel cooking process. There were some very nice features like the LED lighted glowing steel flow. All this was nicely combined with the Faller car system. Faller said they will launch this responding kit series in near future.— unpaid advertising by tagging and naming manufacturers and products.

A beautiful Piko German class 03 express train loco in era 3 livery is passing by, in front of the stunning scenery of a giant depot for diesel and steam locos, on the stunning H0 layout, presented by the enthusiasts of MEC TUTTLINGEN at the Faszination Modellbau 2024. - The overhead wiring comes from @sommerfeldtgmbh, the expert for authentic OW models. I discovered this very beautiful H0 Märklin H0 layout on the 2025 FASZINATION MODELLBAU in Friedrichshafen. It was created by the MODELLBAHNFREUDE BLIESEN e.V. There was a lot of action going on with different trains from different epochs. Central point is the large main station. Watching the trains was a real pleasure here. Hope you enjoy.

Werner Guderlei and the team from Modellbaugruppe MÖHRINGEN again presented their magnificent H0 depot layout again on the 2026 Intermodellbau. The many shunting and shifting manoevres of trains and locos appear so realistic and are controlled digitally via Laptop. All steam locos are Weinert models, handmade from kits, uniquely weathered and with authentic number plates. Today, a class 55 and two different class 38 steamers are playing the key roles.
