We’re excited to share that Shades of You has been selected for the @hbfilmfestival!

For a film that was shot in Hollywood, this one feels a bit like a homecoming.

Shades of You continues its festival journey after recent recognitions including awards at the Atlanta Spotlight Film Awards and Tuscany Web Fest, and selections at Cinema Diverse: The Palm Springs LGBTQ+ Film Festival, Paradise Film Festival, All The Laughs Comedy Awards, and Indie Vegas Film Festival.

Huge congratulations to the incredible cast and collaborators who helped bring this colorful, comedic story to life.

14 years later… finally put the Darna helmet on display at the office!

Back in film school, I wrote, directed, produced, and did the visual effects on an unofficial adaptation of Darna—Asia’s first superheroine—reimagined through the eyes of a first-generation immigrant in Los Angeles. Scrappy, ambitious, and made with a lot of heart.

The helmet? A 3D print assembly printed on cardboard paper, covered in acrylic, and accented with real brass sharp enough to poke your eyes out! It’s surprisingly still holding up.

Darna has always been one of my favorite characters, but there’s still so much untapped potential, especially when you look at what the original komiks set in motion.

Putting this out into the universe: I’d love to write and direct an official adaptation someday.

Yep, I said it.
