I think that Joan of Arc is the most not a witch person in history. I think the documentation shows, she was most certainly not a witch. She wouldn’t have called herself that. Yet despite that she was burnt at the stake. She had such a profound moral conviction that she could give up her religion even to save her own life. I can see why she’s such a figure of fascination, and so polarizing. I wonder if we should all have convictions that we would lay our lives down for. But I think we should have many more convictions that drive us to live.

Come see my show, “I’m that Witch” as part of the Day of the Dead Festival at Frigid New York’s Under Saint Marks theater.

More photos (vertical this time) from an excellent jam at Lucinda’s! Keep the good tunes coming and good people and times are sure to follow.

Happy Happy Belated Birthday to our own @akplaysmusic! We were so happy to be able to celebrate with you by playing bluegrass at our weekly jam at Lucinda’s! We had a few special guests due to an amazing Dolly Parton Tribute held just before. By the end of the night, it seemed like every booth and corner of the bar had someone with an instrument in their hands.

Working on some Beatles classics at Wild Horses last Sunday. If you like this one, just wait til you hear our 30-minute fiddle tune medley.

The weather got in the way of our roof show this past weekend, but the Mill soldiers on: come see us perform Mike Cantor and Dan Blum on Saturday in Soho! RSVP at the link in our bio and join the party

You may not hear the saxophone on a Flatt and Scruggs record but you can hear one or even two if you come see us on Tuesdays at Lucinda’s! Hell, we’ll even throw in the trombone for free. There’s a lot of talk about what is and isn’t country, bluegrass, folk, Americana, roots, blues and whatever genres I have forgotten but it doesn’t really matter too much to us. Just play!

In lieu of @akplaysmusic hosting our past week’s Bluegrass Jam, @themorsecoda filled in because someone has to wrangle us pickers and players. Many of the classics were played and, while a bluegrass jam, we had a bit of flair that night thanks to a full horn section! You just never know what to expect from us.

We know you've been dying to see actual footage of the band again.....so here it is! Just a little clip from our impromptu outdoor rehearsal in Pennsylvania. Gorgeous day, gorgeous harmonies...who could ask for more!

More from Allentown! The lighting of the outdoor rehearsal was especially lovely. It’s amazing that, amid the carnival, camel riding and lemon shaking of the Great Allentown Fair, Billowed Sail was playing their first gig. The first of many!

It’s a blessing to have friends who not only make great music but pool their efforts to form an awesome band! Billowed Sail have certainly been making a splash with multiple gigs at venues like Berlin Under A and Arlene’s Grocery but I like to float a little bit of obnoxious superiority by saying that I was at the first gig. Keep your ears peeled for the next show these goofballs have in store.
